Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons . and your Bearded Dragon! In this tutorial, I will show you how to make some simple felt wings for your Bearded Dragon and a harness you can attach the wings to.

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

For the wings:

  • 2 pieces of 9×12 felt
  • 1 piece of contrasting 9×12 felt
  • 1 thin wire or floral wire
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue

For the harness:

  • 1 length of 550 paracord
  • 3 pony beads
  • Scissors
  • Lighter

And one willing Bearded Dragon. (Daenerys of the House Targaryen optional)

For our tutorial, we will be using Leslow the Bearded Dragon!

Step 2: Design Your Wings

On a piece of paper, draw out your dragon wings. This is where you can get pretty creative! Just make sure that your drawing isn’t bigger than your felt and that you have left about an inch of space between the wings so that you have a place to attach the harness.

Leslow the Bearded Dragon likes the dragons on Game of Thrones, so we will be making a set of wings with a more traditional look.

If you are having trouble getting one side of your wings to look like the other side, a simple trick is to just draw one wing then fold the paper in half. You can then hold the paper up to a window and trace the half you drew onto the opposite side of your drawing.

Once you have your drawing the way you like it, cut the wings out. This is now your template. Trace your template onto the piece of felt you would like for the wing membrane. Next, take your template and cut out your wing’s forearm and fingers. Trace this new template onto two pieces of felt.

Good work! You are ready to assemble!

Step 3: Assemble Your Wings

Cut your wings out of the felt. Take the forearm piece that will be on the top of the wings and cut two small holes in the middle. Layer this on top of the membrane piece and mark the holes. Cut the holes out of the membrane piece. Repeat this process for the second forearm piece.

Next, take a single floral wire and bend it around the upper edge of the membrane layer. When you have it just right, glue the wire in place. Carefully hot glue the matching forearm felt over the floral wire. Make sure to tack down all the “fingers”. Flip the wings over and hot glue the second forearm felt on.

Now you can trim off any excess felt along the edges just to neaten things up.

Congratulations! Your dragon wings a half way done! Now, on to the harness!

Step 4: Assemble Your Harness

Prep Your Cord

You will only need about 5 or 6 feet of cord, so begin by cutting your cord to the length you need. Inside are 7 strings. Pull out all of the strings, but make sure to save one string and set it to the side. Now cut the open end of the paracord at an angle and seal it with a lighter. Your cord is now prepped! Time to make it into a harness!

Making the Harness

Measure about 10 inches down the cord and fold the cord over. Thread the string you set aside through the fold in the cord. Slide one of the pony beads down the string and use the string to now pull the cord through the bead. Slide the bead down the cord until it is about an inch from the end you sealed.

Now you can grab the wings! Push the folded end of the cord through the left hole. Grab that handy string again and use it to pull the paracord through two more beads. Space the two beads out from each other and then push the folded end of the paracord through the right hand hole in the wings. Pull the loose end of the cord through the folded loop end and tighten by sliding your first bead down snugly.

Congratulations! Your harness is finished and your dragon costume is ready to go! But will your Bearded Dragon like it?

Step 5: Putting the Wings on Your Dragon

This part can be tricky, especially if your Dragon is wiggly. Just take your time and be gentle.

Step 1: Make sure your loops are nice and loose

Step 2: Slip both loops over your Bearded Dragon’s head

Step 3: Gently place your Beardie’s front legs between the loops, one leg at a time

Step 4: Slide the loop beads down until the loops fit snugly (not tightly)

Step 5: Finally, slide the last bead down until the whole harness fits snugly (not tightly)

And you are done! Now your Bearded Dragon is a REAL dragon! You are bound to get TONS of candy when you take your little Beardie trick or treating in their new costume!

Introduction: How to Make a Flying Paper Dragon

This Instructable will show you how to create your own flying paper dragon. This is a great activity for dragon themed birthday parties or even just a rainy afternoon.

In this instructable we’ll be making everyone’s favorite dragon, Toothless! If you’re interested in other designs, check out www.flyingpaperdragons.com.

To complete this Intstuctable, you’ll need to be able to print out a PDF file and you’ll need a pair of scissors.

Step 1: Download and Print the PDF

First, download the Toothless.pdf file. Print the pattern onto letter sized printer paper.

When you print, you may have the option to fit the page inside your printer margins or to print full size. Either way works and you can try each way to see which you like better.

Attachments

Step 2: Trim the Edges (if Needed)

If you printed the page to fit within your printer margins, you’ll need to trim off the margins. Just cut out the outer rectangle.

If you printed the page full size, you can skip this step.

Step 3:

Fold the page in half with the printed side facing in.

Step 4:

Cut out the wings and tail. You may need to hold the paper up to the light to be able to see the pattern through the paper. Go slow and be as precise as possible.

Step 5:

With the printed side facing down, fold the corners down. Try to follow the dotted lines as closely as possible.

This is also a good time to fold down the sides of the tail and the tail fins.

Step 6:

Fold the point down.

Step 7:

Fold the corners in. Again, try to follow the dotted lines as closely as possible.

Step 8:

Cut out the horns.

Step 9:

Fold the head down one more time.

Step 10:

Fold the head up.

This is a good time to stop and go back over all your folds and make sure they are pressed down as hard as you can so you have good crisp folds.

Step 11:

Fold the dragon along the center line so the wings are pointing up.

Step 12:

Fold the wings down. Follow the dotted line. You’ll also be folding the neck and horns down along the same line.

Step 13:

Give the horns a little curve so they stand up. You can also cut the chin to give the head a little more shape.

Step 14:

Arrange the wings so they make a slight V shape. You’re ready for your first test flight!

Step 15: Test -> Adjust -> Test Again

Most dragons don’t fly great on the first throw. But there is a lot you can do to improve your dragon’s flight.

  • First make sure all the folds are nice and crisp.
  • Make sure the tail is straight. Sometimes you might get a curve in the tail, but you can usually straighten it out.
  • If the dragon turns sharply to one side, adjust the angle of the V of the wings. Tipping the wings to one side or the other can help straighten out the flight.
  • If the dragon dives down to the ground, you can curl the back edge of the wings up. This will lift the nose of the dragon.
  • If the dragon swoops up too steeply, curl the back edge of the wings down.

Keep throwing and making adjustments until it flies the way you want.

Try different kinds of throws. Fast, slow, straight up, etc.

I received an advanced reading copy of Game of Thrones Mask: House Tagaryen Dragon (3D Mask & Wall Mount) from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I also received ARCs of the House Stark Direwolf, House Lannister Lion, and the White Walker, but decided to put this one together in order to write a review on, what I think might be, the hardest of the masks to put together.

How to fold a targaryen dragon out of paper

When you open it up, there is a detailed map of Westeros, the House lineage, and a short blurb about each House and its current state as of Season 7.
You are also given a very detailed set of instructions: what to fold, how to fold, and when to fold, as well as what is best to use to hold the mask together. *I used double-sided tape, which is one of the recommendations, but I don’t suggest using it if you want to mount or wear the mask. It is very flimsy and you have to use a very delicate grip when moving it around.*

The mask itself is made from pretty thick paper and all of the pieces are perforated, so very easy to pop out. I popped all of them out at the same time, but made the mistake of not putting them in alphabetical order first before starting the build. Definitely suggest sorting them that way, though you won’t go in numerical order as you build so it can be, at times, a little confusing.

Once completed, after about 3-1/2 to 4 hours (if you do it all in one fell swoop like I did), you can either mount the mask on a wall with the given board, or you can wear the mask with the included straps.

This was a really fun project. The quality of the paper was great. It was thick and I had no problem with tearing it away from the page. It folded easily as well. Introduction: Hollow Face Illusion Dragon Without Leaving Your Desk!

How to fold a targaryen dragon out of paper

How to fold a targaryen dragon out of paper

Ever seen those illusions where there is a face that seems to turn toward you? I’ve seen it in theme parks and museums like the Exploratorium, and the Disneyland Haunted House thing. But, now you can make your own. All you need is a printer and some scissors!
RATE PLEASE, IF YOU LIKE IT.
The drawings came from grand-illusions.com, I have no idea where that guy got them from.

And here is a stopmotion I made for fun. The camera captures the illusion effect at the end.

Step 1: Download and Print the PDF

Download the attached PDF files. There are 3 colors, red, green and blue, pick one, pick all, doesn’t matter, but open it, and print it.

Attachments

Step 2: Cut Out the Dragon.

Cut carefully along the outside, and don’t forget to cut into the middle of the dragon at the white line under the head.

Step 3: Fold Your Dragon

For this step it helps to have the PDF file open on the computer, or to have printed out another copy. Around the outside of the dragon drawing, there are lots of instructions on the folding (since you have already cut this out, it might be hard to get it right, so look at the computer pdf). They say mountain fold and valley fold. These are pretty self explanatory, but just in case, a mountain fold looks like this: /\ a valley fold looks like this: V.

Mind that I think there is an error on the head of the dragon where instead of a valley fold, it is actually a mountain. Make sure that along with checking the fold orientation, also check it with the image below.

When you are done folding, tape on the tabs around the mouth and base of the dragon.

Step 4: Operating the Illusion

This is pretty simple. Just close one eye, and stare at the dragon’s head. Move it or yourself around a little, and watch as the head pops out and follows you!

If you hadn’t just made the dragon would you be able to tell the dragon’s head in the image below is concave?

Dragon Paper Airplane

This is my own design of paper airplane. If you make the wings completely level and throw it hard overarm it will fly fast and level indoors for 30 meters or more and it is quite good outside too. So try it out.

Dragon Paper Airplane Folding Instructions

Fold along the dotted line down the center of DIG. 1 then open the paper out and fold along the diagonal lines at the top to give DIG. 2.

Fold along the diagonal lines in DIG. 2 bringing the top left and top right edges in to meet along the center line as shown in DIG. 3.

Fold along the horizontal dotted line in DIG. 3 bringing the tip of the paper airplane down to the center of the base of the paper as shown in DIG. 4

Now fold along the diagonal dotted lines in DIG. 4 to bring the left top edge and right top edge in to meet at the center line as shown in DIG. 5

Now fold the flap that points downwards up so that its tip touches the tip of the paper airplane at the front. Fold along the dotted line shown in DIG. 5 to do this. If the tips do not meet go back and alter the folding so that they do. This is very important. You should get the form (approximately) in DIG. 6

Now finally fold along the center line and dotted lines in DIG. 6to give you the paper airplane as shown at the top of the page. Throw it hard overarm and it should fly very level and very straight for a long distance.

Dragon Paper Airplane Flying

This plane flies well indoors but is useless outdoors as the slightest breeze will make it crash. Hold it very near its shorter edge (the front) underneath the plane. Throw with a pushing motion or overarm so that when you let go it will be level or very slightly tilted downwards. You should find that this plane will glide very slowly for quite a long distance indoors.
