How to get a chaos chao in sonic adventure 2 battle

There are many different colours of Chao which can be obtained. When we talk about a Chao’s colour or breed, we are referring to its colour pattern completely separate from and unrelated to its evolution. There are many factors (such as colour and tone) which combine to form the Chao’s overall breed.

Types of Colours

The majority of Chao you will see will be Coloured Chao and Jewel Chao.

Coloured Chao

Coloured Chao are the most common as they are the easiest to obtain. In fact, the very first Chao that you start with is a special kind of Coloured Chao, referred to as regular Two-tone Chao.

Every Coloured Chao has a single base colour. They may often appear to visually have multiple colours on their bodies, but this is an effect resulting from other factors of their breed. A Coloured Chao only ever has one base colour out of the available 14, which can be anything in the following list: Regular, White, Red, Blue, Yellow, Pink, Purple, Sky Blue, Orange, Green, Brown, Grey, Lime Green, or Black. You can find images of each colour in the Chao Gallery.

Most of the available colours listed above are self-explanatory: a red Chao will always look red, and a yellow Chao will always look yellow. The regular colour requires more explanation than this. Regular Coloured Chao have a colour which varies depending on their current alignment and evolution. The very first Chao that you start with has the regular colour, and this is why you can see it change colour depending on how you raise it.

Mono-tone Chao

Mono-tone Chao are the easiest type of Chao to obtain, as they can be purchased as eggs from the Black Market. As you might expect, Mono-tone Chao appear with a solid colour all over their bodies.

Two-tone Chao

Two-tone Chao are the other type of coloured Chao. As previously mentioned, the very Chao that you start with is a regular Two-tone Chao. An immediate difference that you may notice between your starter Chao and the Mono-tone Chao that you buy from the Black Market, is that the starter Chao has multiple colours on its body. For example, a neutral child Chao will have yellow highlights on its head, hands, and feet, and a darker blue patch on its body. These highlights are what makes the Two-tone Chao special.

Two-tone Chao are harder to obtain than Mono-tone Chao because they cannot be bought. Instead, you need to breed for them. An easy way to do this is to buy the matching Mono-tone Chao from the Black Market, and then breed it with one of your starter Chao. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a Two-tone version of that colour. For more information, see the the Breeding page.

Jewel Chao

Jewel Chao are a rarer breed of a Chao which have a special metallic, reflective coat. It’s body is covered in a jewel-like sheen. Jewel Chao does not show a Chao’s base colour and tone, instead all Jewel Chao appear with a solid, metallic texture.

Every Jewel Chao has a single jewel coat, which defines its appearance. The available types are: Non-Jewel, Silver, Gold, Ruby, Sapphire, Amethyst, Emerald, Garnet, Aquamarine, Peridot, Topaz, or Onyx. You can find images of each jewel coat in the Chao Gallery.

Shiny Chao

Shiny Chao look the same but have a sparkling, brighter coating. All Chao can be a shiny or non-shiny version. If the Chao has a non-jewel coat, the Chao will look the same but more sparkly and shinier. If it has any other jewel coat, it will appear differently depending on it’s original base colour, and on what version of Sonic Adventure 2 you are playing:

  • Gamecube: Generally semi-transparent or completely invisible with a few being opaque
  • PC: All opaque colours
  • Steam/X360/PS3: There are no Shiny Jewel Chao

A full list of Chao can be seen on the Chao Gallery! Or you could even create your own with the 3D Chao Viewer!

List of Chao in each game

Sonic Adventure [Dreamcast]

  • Regular Two-tone Chao
  • Black Two-tone Chao
  • Silver and Gold Jewel Chao
  • Bronze and Onyx Jewel Chao (via breeding)

In Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast, all Chao are neutral, regular coloured two-tone Chao (With the exception of 3 hidden Chao and 2 breeding-only Chao). The later games introduced Hero and Dark Chao, more colours, monotone Chao and shiny Chao.

Sonic Adventure 2 [Dreamcast]

  • Regular Two-tone Chao
  • Black Two-tone Chao
  • Various Jewel Chao: Silver, Gold, Ruby, Sapphire, Amethyst, Emerald.
  • Moon Texture Chao

In Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast, all Chao are coloured two-tone or Jewel Chao. Unlike the games following this, you cannot obtain monotone Chao or shiny Chao in this version.

The Moon Chao is a unique Chao with a special appearance. It is purple and has an almost golf ball-like texture covering it. Like the Jewel Chao, it is a solid colour and doesn’t show the Chao’s normal colour or highlights. The Moon Chao is also only available on the online Black Market, and is unobtainable in any other version of the game without the use of hacking or modding tools.

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle [Modern]

  • All Two-tone Chao
  • All Mono-tone Chao
  • Shiny Chao

Unfortunately, Jewel Chao are unobtainable directly in this game. In fact, the only way to get a Jewel Chao is to own the Gamecube game, and then transfer it from Sonic Adventure DX or the Tiny Chao Garden. All other versions have no way to obtain Jewel Chao without the use of editors or mods – see our Downloads section for more information!

Sonic Adventure DX [Modern]

  • Regular Two-tone Chao
  • All Mono-tone Chao
  • Shiny Chao
  • Silver and Gold Jewel Chao

There are no two-tone Chao in this version except for the regular coloured one. Furthermore, not all Jewel Chao are obtainable directly in this game. You can obtain Silver and Gold Chao eggs hidden in the adventure fields, but to get the other colours you need the Gamecube version so you can transfer them over from the Tiny Chao Garden. Once again, to obtain the full range of Jewel Chao you will have to use editors or mods – see our Downloads section for more information!

Sonic Advance [Gameboy Advance]

  • Regular Two-tone Chao
  • All Jewel Chao

The Tiny Chao Garden is the only way you can obtain Jewel Chao for transfer to the Gamecube games.

Your Chao will gradually change over time as it ages. After it evolves, the Chao age has a much more pronounced effect on it’s appearance as it grows older. At first, you will find it very difficult to tell what ability type(s) the Chao has. Depending on the animals and Chaos Drives that it interacts with, you will start to see all sorts of appearance changes in your Chao!

Child

As previously mentioned, a Chao is considered to be a child for the first few hours of its life. It then forms a cocoon and evolves when it is ready.

As your Chao edges closer to evolution, you will see its body shape and colour (if it is a regular coloured Chao) change towards what it wants to evolve into. You can see this change for yourself using the Chao Island 3D Chao Viewer. A Chao will evolve into the alignment and ability type that it favours most at the very point it enters its cocoon.

Adult

Along with the Chao’s alignment being Hero, Dark, or Neutral, it also evolves into one of five different ability types. These ability types are Swim, Fly, Run, Power, and Normal.

After evolution, the Chao will start to morph again as it grows older based on new animals and Chaos Drives you give to it. This way you can create all sorts of combinations of Chao, such as a “Neutral/Run/Fly Chao” which is known as the Elf Chao. For a full gallery of these Chao, check out the Chao Gallery!

The Chao’s appearance after it’s evolution is not permanent, has nothing to do with stats, and does not take place at any specific age (the changes gradually get more distinctive as the Chao gets older). You can always change the second evolution of a Chao by simply giving it different animals or Chaos Drives. For example, if you have a Run/Fly Chao, you can give it Power animals and it will change into a Run/Power Chao as you continue to give it more. The changes are determined by pairs of stats, as per the below diagram.

Terminology

The format used in the Chao community to describe evolutions is Alignment / Evolution Type / Secondary Type. For example, “Hero/Run/Power” is a shorthand way of saying that a Chao has evolved into a Hero Run type evolution from its cocoon, and then has been given Power type animals in it’s adult life.

The adult transformation is just like the gradual change that a child Chao goes through before it evolves, with only a few differences: it is a longer, slower process; and it ends with the Chao’s death, not with a metamorphosis (cocoon evolution).

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle Question and Answers :

can you trade chao between gamecube memory cards. my friend and i want to trade our chao.

you can trade em by having sonic advance 2 which is on gameboy. you need to import it by
going to ur transporter

p.s. it might make a copy chao l.o.l.

but i only have this game for gamecube.

yes you can

by being clever

no u cant trade through just mem cards

u need a gba and gba link cable without those its impossible and ur just pretty much
screwed

NO. Why do people think that anyways.

sorry

my bad u can as long as u have 2 memory cards

How to trade chao with the GAMECUBE

Make sure your memory card with the chao you want to trade is in one of the gamecube’s
slots and that your friend’s memory card with the chao they want to trade is in the other
slot. Now go to one of the chao gardens and find the gameboy stand that is in it. Make the
character stand on the red button platform. When the next screen comes up, click on the
button that says “move”. It will bring up these two little boxes with chaos in them. (AKA,
it shows your memory cards) Use R and L control buttons to scroll between the different
chao gardens until you come to the one with the chao you want to trade. Now click on the
two chaos that ya’ll want to trade and then press transfer (the little orange arrow). Now
ya’ll have traded chaos.

Chaos Strategy Guide

Having troubles raising a Chao? After having searched around for information on raising and evolving Chaos I found information on them to be either scarce or non-existent. Most other guides merely list off a bunch of Chao evolution combinations and a list of colors; well here is how Chaos really work…

You’ll start off with two Chao eggs when you first enter the Chao world. You can let these eggs sit there until they hatch or you can pick them up and shake them to speed up the process (walk up to an egg, press and hold B and begin to move the control stick, much like how you shake down fruits from the trees for a few seconds and set it back down). You can also throw it against the wall, although this will usually result in your Chao hatching with a pretty hideous expression on its face (and it’s permanent) so I don’t recommend it. It will also result in your Chao not liking you right off the bat, so just don’t do it! Another method of speeding up the hatching process is to pick the egg up and jump around with it for a while before setting it back down. Each one of these egg-hatching methods will give your Chao a different facial expression: mad, sad, or happy, or just a regular Chao. I haven’t found any way to get a consistent face yet though.

Once your Chao has hatched you can begin feeding it. Start by feeding it fruit from the tree in whichever zone your Chao is in. Your Chao will also eat these on their own so be careful not to over-feed them. The Chao will throw the food away if they don’t want it.

Make sure you take some time before evolving it to send your Chao to class. The classroom is where your Chao improves its intelligence. During some Chao races the intelligence factor of your Chao will play an important role in how well they do so try to keep them as intelligent as possible. The classroom is also a place you can put your Chao if you need to get them out of the Garden for a while (which helps to prevent unwanted aging).

Steps of your Chao’s Life
Now here is where things start to get confusing. There are many theories as to how evolution of a Chao occurs, but after extensive testing I’ve found the following method to work most consistently and accurately.

First Evolution

The first evolution is a permanent, special evolution and all of your Chao’s preceding evolutions will revolve around the outcome of this first evolution. The Chao will evolve primarily based on what type of Chao Drives you give it. There are four types: Swimming, Running, Flying and Power.

It’s easy to tell which Chao Drive is which as the color of the Chao Drive matches the stat it will increase (e.g. yellow will increase swimming). This first evolution takes both a large amount of time and a large amount of Drives, contrary to what many other guides say. As your Chao ages the effects of what drives you’re giving it become more and more noticeable.
For example: if your Chao was just born and you gave it 100 swimming Chao Drives you would hardly notice a difference, but if you wait about a half hour after giving it these items, it will start to change color. For some reason when a Chao has just hatched out of its egg it will take a much longer time for Chao Drives to have a noticeable effect, so give it time.
Another factor is the Chaos’ alignment (neutral, hero or dark). Depending on what alignment you want you should start feeding your Chao using fruit from the hero room or dark room (or neutral if that’s what you’re aiming for) and feed the Chao using characters of that alignment. For a neutral aligned Chao just feed it with both typed of characters evenly.

After a given amount of time and food the Chao will evolve with a new alignment (or still neutral if that’s what you’re aiming for) and will be one of five types. This gives 15 possible Chao combinations:

Neutral>Running Type
Neutral>Swimming Type
Neutral>Power Type
Neutral>Flying Type
Neutral>Normal Type

Dark>Running Type
Dark>Swimming Type
Dark>Power Type
Dark>Flying Type
Dark>Normal Type

Hero>Running Type
Hero>Swimming Type
Hero>Power Type
Hero>Flying Type
Hero>Normal Type

Make sure to feed your Chao only the right type of fruit and the right type of Chao Drive depending on which of the first 15 evolutionary combinations you want.

Important: I can’t clear this up enough! Evolving a Chao has nothing to do with what animal parts it has on. Those are just really terrible side-effects of using animals to level up your Chao. Giving your Chao an animal will improve its stats the same way a Chao Drive will (only less effectively) and potentially give your Chao a body part similar to the used animal. It’s not permanent though. If you wish to remove these bad looking animal parts just get a Dog-Skeleton animal and give it to your Chao. The Dog-Skeleton doesn’t give you animal parts but has a chance to take existing ones away.

After the Chao goes into the egg it will hatch and have a brand new cool looking appearance! The neutral type Chaos look neat as well, but it’s important to note that a neutral type Chao will not evolve any further beyond this point.

The Second Evolution is not really an evolution, contrary to popular belief. Your Chao won’t go into an egg for this transformation and it is not a permanent affect.

If your Chao has just hatched it won’t be able to change its appearance for quite some time. When your Chao reaches a certain age giving it a different color of Chao Drives will have an effect on it. You can feed it any type of Chao drive now and each of the 15 original combinations of first evolution Chaos now has 5 more possible looks. The effect of the new Chao Drives will not be as drastic as the first transformation, but will have a noticeable effect on the Chao (typically a color change). None of the effects are permanent, so take your time and have fun seeing how many different ways you can transform your Chao.

Example: a hero flying Chao normally has two purple hairs on its head and medium sized wings. If you were to feed it lots of purple Chao Drives you would notice a few changes. They’re small yet very noticeable changes. In this example the Chao would gain two extra hairs and its wings would grow larger. It takes time, but after a certain amount of time after your Chaos first evolution, say three hours, these effects are become nearly instant as you switch between different Chao Drive colors.

Example 2: When the Hero Flying Chao gets it’s two extra feathers and larger wings and I started to give it green Chao Drives the effects were noticeable almost instantly. The problem with this evolutionary stage is that its nearly impossible to tell whether your Chaos transformation is complete or whether feeding it more Chao drives will continue to make it change. In the example I used of the Chao with the big wings – feeding it green Chao Drives made it lose its wings and turn an ugly tint of green, so in this case it was a change for the worse! Take some time to experiment! There are approximately 75 different Chao combinations.
