How to give a gift to someone who likes to cook

How can you prepare a thoughtful gift for a man who likes to cook?

Here are two gift ideas that may help you.

1、Victorinox Fibrox Pro Chef’s Knife, 8-Inch

How to give a gift to someone who likes to cook

As a person who loves to cook. Whenever I hold a knife handle in the kitchen, it’s like I become the king of the kitchen.

I don’t know why, but I feel confident at that moment. This confidence comes from the belief that in about an hour (I usually keep my cooking time to about an hour) I will have a delicious, hearty meal for my family.

As an experienced home cook, I know the importance of a good set of knives.
It’s like I’m in command of a battle when I’m making accurate and fast cuts. (Remember that King of the Kitchen analogy of mine?)

For knives, the one I would definitely recommend is the Victorinox Fibrox Pro 8-Inch Chef’s Knife.

This is by far my favorite chef’s knife.

It has several advantages:

  • High quality and lightweight European steel.
  • Ergonomically designed handle that is comfortable to hold.
  • The long, angled curved blade is great for slicing and chopping.
  • National Sanitary Foundation (NSF) approved and dishwasher safe.

This knife meets almost everything I look for in a knife. I especially like the wide blade (I don’t handle narrow blades very well), and in fact, the wide blade makes me feel more safe.

It is very sharp and slices and minces effortlessly.

Tips:

  • Even though the instructions on this knife say it is dishwasher safe, I recommend washing it by hand. If not placed properly, the high pressure water in the dishwasher may cause it to fall over and damage the blade.
  • It is recommended to sharpen the knife briefly after 2-3 uses to keep the blade sharp.

When I first started learning to cook, I wanted to have access to a good knife. But when I saw the highly acclaimed Japanese knives, the high price turned me off.

I knew they were like works of art, meant for top culinary chefs.

What I needed more than anything was a very good, affordable knife. Luckily, I have Victorinox.

Here’s an introduction to Victorinox that I hope you’ll share with your friends when you give the gift of a Victorinox knife.

“The company Victorinox
In 1884, Karl Elsener opened his cutler’s workshop in Ibach-Schwyz. At this time Switzerland was still one of the poorer countries in Europe. In the early years Karl Elsener worked to combat poverty and unemployment in the Schwyz basin, creating jobs and helping stem the flow of emigration.

In 1891 he supplied the soldier’s knife to the Swiss Army for the first time. He went on to develop the Swiss Officer’s and Sports Knife – now the iconic Swiss Army Knife – in 1897, creating the foundation for a flourishing company that would be able to hold its own on the world stage.

From then on, his spirit of solidarity, deep roots in the region and strong commitment to solid values shaped the Victorinox company philosophy.

Today, Victorinox is a global company with five product categories: Swiss Army Knives, Household and Professional Knives, Watches, Travel Gear and Fragrances. The Swiss Army Knife is the core product and has a pioneering role in the development of all product categories.”

No matter what the occasion, most knitters appreciate getting knitting tools and supplies as a gift. Whether you’re looking for a special something for a fellow crafter or want to provide a few hints for your loved ones, here are some great ideas for knitting-related gifts.

” data-caption=”” data-expand=”300″ data-tracking-container=”true” />

Of course, the most basic and wonderful gift you can get a knitter is yarn. Whether you go for one perfect skein of luscious wool or cashmere, a fun novelty yarn or enough balls to make a big project, more yarn for the stash is always appreciated. You might even get your gift back in the form of a knit scarf or another fun knit item.

Build Your Own Kit

If you’re a knitter shopping for another knitter, a fun idea is to make a knitting kit. It is basically a knitting project in a bag.

Find a book with a pattern you like (or choose a pattern you find online), and buy all the materials required to make it—the yarn, needles, notions, etc. Throw in a copy of the book or print out the pattern, put it all in a pretty bag or basket, and you’re done.

Knitting Bag

There are so many different options for knitting bags. It also seems like every knitter can use another bag when the old ones get filled with unfinished projects. It’s a gift that will definitely be appreciated.

A knitting backpack or purse is great for on-the-go people who want to knit wherever they are but still need to have room for all their necessities in the same bag. Little project bags such as the Boye Yarn on the Go Bag are great, too. And, if you’re the crafty type yourself, you can always make a bag.

Interchangeable Needles

” data-caption=”” data-expand=”300″ data-tracking-container=”true” />

If you want a really special gift for your favorite knitter, consider interchangeable needles. They are a dream to work with, though some frugal knitters may be reluctant to buy a set for themselves.

Whether you go for the Boye Needlemaster, Denise, Knit Picks Options, or one of the many other needle sets out there, you’re sure to make a knitter happy.

Yarn Swift

” data-caption=”” data-expand=”300″ data-tracking-container=”true” />

Samia Mohammed/Getty Images

For the knitter who seems to have everything, think about getting a yarn swift. This handy tool makes winding a ball from a skein of yarn much easier. The swift acts as your hands while you wind the yarn into a ball with the help of a ball winder.

The perfect gift to go along with a yarn swift is a ball winder, which makes quick work of getting the yarn off the swift and into a ball. If you have other crafty friends who want to go in on a gift together, getting someone a swift and winder is a very thoughtful gift.

Knitting Needle Case

How to give a gift to someone who likes to cook

A sewn roll-up knitting needle case is a great gift for any knitter because everyone seems to have more needles than they know where to store them. This DIY project is easy enough even for those without a lot of sewing experience, and it holds up to 24 pairs of knitting needles. As an alternative, there are premade needle cases available at yarn shops.

101 Stitches to Knit

” data-caption=”” data-expand=”300″ data-tracking-container=”true” />

Almost every knitter can use a stitch dictionary. This set of cards is a great choice because you can pick a stitch pattern to work from and then just carry that one card around instead of a whole book. It’s great for people who like to knit on the go.

Lace Knitting to Go

” data-caption=”” data-expand=”300″ data-tracking-container=”true” />

Another great box of stitch patterns is Chronicle’s Lace Knitting to Go. It includes 25 cards with lace knitting patterns that can be the basis for your own lacy knitting projects. The cards include written instructions and charts, so they’re great practice for knitters who aren’t that comfortable with chart reading.

Gift Certificates

” data-caption=”” data-expand=”300″ data-tracking-container=”true” />

If all else fails, no knitter will turn down a gift certificate to his or her favorite yarn shop. If the knitter you’re shopping for lives nearby, you could also sign the two of you up to take a class together and buy the supplies. If you’re still not sure what to buy, a gift card to a craft store is always a good option.

How to give a gift to someone who likes to cook

Gift giving is something that should not be a chore. It must come from the heart. When you give gifts, you are giving something willingly without wanting something in return. Making someone feel special is more than enough reason to make you give more. It tells the receiver that you were thinking about them.

While it feels good to be on the receiving end, there’s a feeling of self-gratification when you are the one who is doing the giving. This can’t be measured by monetary value. The happiness you get from opening a gift is only temporary, but giving provides a more self-fulfilling experience that lasts for a long period of time.

We learn this when we are young. As children, we give our parents good grades that make them happy. A simple act can provide a good response. It has been proven that the act of giving makes us happier than receiving. It doesn’t matter how valuable the gift may be.

Below are various reasons why people give gifts.

Gifts as an expression of love

Gift giving is an act of self-gratification. It is a good way of strengthening relationships. If you are in a friendship or a relationship, you should always show the other person how much you care for him or her. You don’t need to wait for an occasion in order to give a gift. Give one to show how much you love someone.

Gifts for living well are ideal items to show your sincerity, as well as good intentions to a person. Essential oils that improve one’s wellness are better than chocolates or roses. Or you can opt to give gifts for elevating happiness and wellbeing.

Gifts to celebrate a birthday

A person’s birthday is a special milestone that should be celebrated each year. There’s no age limit for it. Whether the person is young or mature, it is important to give special attention to the person during one’s special day and be happy for being a year older. Making someone feel special during one’s birthday can be done with a thoughtful gift, such as with items that can help a person live well.

Gifts to appreciate someone special

They say that action speaks louder than words, and there’s no better way to say you appreciate someone than through gift giving. You can make someone happy with a simple gift. It doesn’t need to be expensive. You can give a gift of appreciation to you father, mother, sister, brother, or anyone that has done something for you. A token of appreciation is heartfelt especially if is given sincerely. Corporates and business owners can also give gifts of appreciation to their employees for their hard work or for their special contribution to the business. It motivates the workers and makes them perform better. A token of appreciation can do wonders to the performance of your workforce.

Gift giving to keep in touch

Not seeing someone often should not be an excuse to ruin one’s relationship. Gifts can help in strengthening relationships. You can give a gift to stay in touch and keep that person in your life. There’s no better way to say you still care, then giving gifts for living well. The person will remember you every time he or she uses essential oil products or is sipping a cup of wonderful loose-leaf tea you gave the person.

Gifts to say “Thanks”

There are some instances when you need to give back to someone who has helped you or provided you a favor. Gift giving is an act that can show that you are thankful. Giving and receiving is the purest of reasons to give gifts. The receiver will truly feel your gratitude when you give gifts for elevating happiness and wellbeing.

Gifts for anniversaries

It is important for married couples to remember the day of their anniversary. This thoughtful gesture can be achieved by giving a gift. An anniversary can also be for a business venture. You can celebrate the milestone with a gift. You can also give a gift to people who started their own businesses. This is one way to show that you remember them during a special moment in their lives.

Gifts for a new home

You might not have the time to help someone move in or out of a new home, but you can give the person a gift for a new beginning. A new house is a big step, especially for people who are starting their own family.

If you received an invitation to a housewarming party, it is customary that you would need to provide a gift to the new homeowners. It is also proper to bring a gift during the first visit to your friend’s new home. Gifts could be something they can use in the new house or gifts for elevating their happiness and wellbeing. Useful gifts are perfect for this milestone in life.

Gifts for promotion or a new job

A new job or a promotion is something that people get excited about. It is a self-fulfillment event, and you can make it more special by celebrating with them through gift giving. It means that you share their excitement, and are happy for them on their achievement.

Gifts to apologize

There are times when you make mistakes, and a simple apology is not enough to make the other party forgive you. During times when words are not enough, it is best to express it with a gift. It will show that you are really sorry for what you have done.

Gifts for passing exams or achieving high grades

Parents can reward their kids who work hard in school to maintain high grades or for passing specific grades. Gift giving is can help inspire and motivate children to strive better in school. It will let them know that their hard work will be rewarded.

No matter what the reason is for giving a gift, the best presents are those that come from the heart.

Here’s the must have list of favorite gift ideas for people who love to draw, doodle and color. There are almost as many types of supplies as there are people who love to use them. Whether they love coloring pages or drawing on their own, there are a ton of coloring and drawing materials to choose from. It comes down to preference. To help you get started, I’ve compiled a list to help you get started shopping for favorite gift ideas for people who love to draw, doodle and color.

How to give a gift to someone who likes to cookGift ideas for people who love to draw and color

Note: This list was originally published in 2015, I’ve updated with more great gift ideas.

Gift Ideas for People Who Love
to Draw and Color

Really – there are so many different brands, styles and uses different coloring and drawing materials that you can come up with a great gift, even if you don’t know what your recipient’s favorite supplies are.

These recommended supplies are great for all ages. If you are buying for younger kids, more kid friend supplies might bit better place to start. But kids as young as 10, who love making art, would definitely love any of these drawing materials.

Remember: if someone has a preference in the drawing or coloring supplies they use, you can always grab them accessories or a gift card. If a package is unopened, your gift recipient should be able to return an item for a product they prefer.

Must Have Coloring and Drawing Supplies

Here’s are the drawing and coloring supplies I recommend every enthusiast, beginner or pro, have in their art box. You can grab a handful of specialty colored pencils and a sketchbook to bundle together or find a unique pencil case for the artist on the go. At a minimum, new pens or a new sketchpad are always appreciated. Get creative with your art gift giving!

Good colored pencils, markers and pens – good doesn’t always have to be expensive. Some of my favorite tools are Michaels brand art supplies. They are inexpensive and have beautiful results.

Great paper – even more important than the coloring tools is the paper. In my opinion, an artist can do amazing things with average tools.. the surface (paper, canvas, etc.) makes all the difference. You can use a low grade colored pencil on high grade paper and create magic.

Carrying cases and art supply organizers – I use soup cans and boxes for my art supply organizing, however, my dream is a room full of cubbies with box storage. We spend so much money on our drawing and coloring supplies, there’s no money left to store it nicely… storage is a great gift!

Art kits – if your drawing/coloring gift is going to a beginner, a kit with a combination of supplies is a great place to start. You can even make your own kit by going to an art store and buying individual items… make a gift basket of fancy pencils and accessories for them to try.

Recommended Coloring and Drawing Art Supplies

I’ve gathered together some of my favorite art supply recommendations. You can find many of these items at a local art or craft supply. I’ve linked them here for easy shopping. Just pick your favorites and you’re set.

  1. Prismacolor Colored Pencils I really like the way Prismacolor colored pencils blend. They are a nice smooth coloring experience and the colors layer on top of eachother well.
  2. Tombow Dual Brush Markers I love how these pens blend – they are water based so work well with a waterbrush. I used them all the time with my printable art pages.
  3. Organizing Tote all the supplies in place with a pocket for everything!
  4. Electric pencil sharpener If you’re going to use pencils, they’ll eventually need to be sharpened. A handhelp sharpener is nice on the go, but when doing a ton of drawing or coloring, I love having the electric sharpener on hand.
  5. Pretty Colored Pencils with a roll up carrying case
  6. Sakura Micron pens – these are my favorite! I LOVE the .03 tip. You can buy individual pens or sets with multiple tip sizes as well as sets with multiple colors. This set includes pens and a pencil – it’s a gift all on it’s own!
  7. Sketchbooks – There are tons of different sketchbooks in a variety of sizes, quality and prices. Pick the one you love most. Some of my favorites are: Very Big Sketchbook – because the more the better and Reclaimed paper sketchbook – this is a super cool sketchbook filled with an array of paper. A doodler or an illustrator will love this unique find!
  8. Stand Up Easel Pencil Holder Some artists like to keep all their supplies tucked away and organized while others like to lay everything out on the table to see. This easel is a great way to keep everything organized and in view at the same time.
  9. Prismacolor markers – this is a brand that has been around for ages. Great for illustrators and Graphic Designers too. Also take a look at these Fine tip markers for beautiful detail coloring.
  10. Wood pencil box For the artist you aren’t sure which supplies they like best. This pencil box makes a great, unique gift and can double as a gift card holder.
  11. Coloring books – of course the perfect gift for someone who likes to color is a pile of new coloring books. There are so many beautiful choices, pick your favorite! I also have a coloring book I designed that I think would make a great gift!
  12. Pretty carrying tote – having a place to store all those coloring books is a great gift idea. I really like this magazine tote, it’s small and pretty and perfect for storing coloring books and a little pencil bag.

You could fill a whole gift basket with all kinds of goodies. Add in some of these extra accessories – Hand held pencil Sharpener, pocket Color Wheel, Pen and Pencil Organizer Box

Where to buy coloring and drawing supplies:

  • Craft stores
  • Art retailers
  • Online stores like Amazon, Joann, Michaels and Consumer Crafts.
  • Learn a new skill with creative classes from Creativebug

As an additional creative note… If you are shopping for an all around artsy, creative person, I love my Cricut and they might too! Here’s a couple ideas for you:
