Your natural state is to be happy, peaceful, joyous, and full of excitement at being alive. In this natural state, you feel wonderful about yourself and your relationships with the people in your life. Reason #1: You Are Good

You are a thoroughly good and excellent person. No one is better than you or more gifted than you. Only when you doubt your essential goodness and value do you begin to question yourself. The inability to accept that you are good lies at the root of much of your discontent.

Reason #2: You Are Important, in Many, Many Ways

Your personal universe revolves around you as an individual. You give meaning to everything that you see or hear. How important you feel largely determines the quality of your life. Happy, successful people feel important and valuable. Because they feel and act this way, it becomes true for them.

Unhappy, frustrated people feel unimportant and of little value. They feel frustrated and unworthy. They feel “I’m not good enough,” and as a result they lash out at the world and engage in behaviors that hurt themselves and others. Remember, you are amazing and nothing in your world has any significance except for the significance that you attribute to it.

Reason #3: You Have the Ability Live your Life to the Greatest Potential

You have the capability to create and live your life as you desire and you have unlimited potential to accomplish this. You could not use your entire potential if you lived one hundred lifetimes. No matter what you have accomplished up to now, it is merely a hint of what is truly possible for you. And the more of your natural talents and abilities you develop in the present, the more of your potential you can develop in the future.

Your belief in your almost unlimited potential is the key to becoming everything you are truly capable of becoming.

Reason #4: Your Thoughts on Life are Essential to Creating Your Own World

Your thoughts on life and your beliefs actually create your realities, and every belief you have about yourself you learned, starting in infancy. The amazing thing is that most of the negative or self-limiting beliefs and doubts that interfere with your happiness and success are not based on fact or reality at all.

When you begin to question your self-limiting beliefs and develop beliefs consistent with the incredible person you really are, your life will begin to change almost immediately.

Reason #5: You Are Always Free to Choose

You are free to choose the content of your thoughts and the direction of your life. The one thing over which you have complete control is your inner life and your thinking. You can decide to think happy, fulfilling, uplifting thoughts that lead to positive actions and results. Or you can end up choosing negative, self-limiting thoughts that hold you back.

Reason #6: You Are Special and Destined for Greatness

You are meant to do something wonderful with your life. You are special and have a unique combination of talents, abilities, ideas, insights, and experiences that make you different from anyone who has ever lived. You are designed for success and engineered for greatness.

Your acceptance or non-acceptance of this point largely determines the size of the goals you set, your power of persistence in the face of adversity, the height of your achievements, and the whole direction of your life.

Reason #7: You Can Conquer Your Fear of Failure

There are no limits to what you can do, be, or have except the limits you place on your own thinking and your own imagination. The biggest enemies you will ever face are your own doubts and your fear of failure. These are usually negative beliefs, not necessarily based on fact that you have accepted over the years until you no longer question them.

The study consisted of 300 couples over the course of 75 years. The couples joined the study in their 20s. The participants asked their friends to rate their personalities using a 36-question scale. The researchers then evaluated the responses to determine which personality traits were most common in those who were living the longest and healthiest lives.

1. Emotional stability

Friendliness was the second highest character quality in this study. Be kind and friendly to everyone you meet. An easygoing personality will bring you a higher quality of life.

3. Open-Mindedness

Participants who took the time to listen to other people’s ideas and understand their feelings were found to live a longer life span. You may not agree with everyone, and that’s okay, just be open to listen to their point of view.

4. Emotional expression

Expressing your feelings and emotions instead of keeping them bottled up inside is much healthier for your mind and your stress levels. Learning to express yourself freely will lead to a longer life.

5. Meticulousness

People who were methodical and efficient in their thought process and actions tended to live longer. Instead of rushing through a project or to a decision, take some time to think things through. Just slow down a little.

Staying in your comfort zone is the fastest way to become discontent [1] . Without stepping outside what you’re already comfortable with, you will cease to learn and stagnate in both your personal and professional life.

At times, it’s seemed as though life contains an endless supply of days.

I thought this for sure when I was younger. It didn’t matter how long I held a grudge or how long I waited to do something I wanted—there would be an unlimited pool of other opportunities. At least, that’s what I thought back then.

Maybe it’s a rite of passage from childhood to adulthood, the moment when you realize life happens now and that’s all you’re guaranteed. It doesn’t really hit you when you merely know it intellectually, like you know your ABCs, state capitals, and other concrete facts.

It hits you when somehow you feel it. Your health declines. You lose someone you love. A tragedy rocks your world. It isn’t until you realize that all life fades that you consider now a commodity, and a scarce one at that.

But maybe that’s irrelevant. Maybe living a meaningful, passionate life has nothing to do with its length and everything to do with its width.

It might feel unnatural at first, but after a while, you’ll see it flow right out of you. Good day or bad day, note your experience. It’s awesome to come back in a few months’ time and see what you were up to.

8. Don’t make a promise or commitment that you can’t keep.

If you say yes to something, be 100% sure that you can follow through with it. Not only would your friend be upset, but you end up feeling worse for not being able to fulfill your duty. Don’t overbook yourself; no one wins. Be honest with yourself and your time.

9. Uncover hidden skills!

There are probably so many things you forgot or didn’t even realize you were good at. You don’t have to be stuck with the same hobbies and professions that you decided on in like… high school. Try new things; you might surprise yourself.

10. Get excited about the little things.

The best way to explain this is… act like a tourist! Let seemingly normal things exhilarate you. Cheer on your dog for finishing their meal, or give a standing ovation for clean sheets! It’s fun, and it makes you appreciate the small wins.

11. Loosen Up.

Don’t take yourself so seriously! Realize that you’re not the only one on a journey; you are a small part of a much bigger picture. It’s not all on you, and you are not alone. Especially this year, everyone’s just trying to FIGURE. IT. OUT.

12. Be a cheerleader for your friends!

Seeing your friends succeed can be one of the best feelings. So help them win! Be their hype, man; push them, root for them, and be there to catch them. Being a part of their happiness can help add to yours!

13. Make a check-list.

Everyone loves a good list! And what’s even better is checking things OFF that list. When you can see all your tasks all in one place, it can be daunting at first. But then it gets you amped up to make that list shorter and shorter. Sliding that pen across something you accomplished is pure serotonin.

14. So cliché, but be present.

Don’t be thinking about what your boss said in the last meeting or what you’ll make for dinner tonight. Be in the here and now; you will never get this moment back. I find that if I don’t stay in the present, it’s easy to get lost.

15. Get uncomfortable and take some risks!

Amazing things can happen outside of your comfort zone. Everything in life is either a lesson or a blessing; there are no mistakes; what matters is you tried! It’s your one life to live, so make it a great story. You don’t want to look back on your life with a tally of things you wish you had done.

16. Get rid of mental and physical clutter.

We all have a million things to keep up with every day. But if we got rid of all our mental clutter that truly doesn’t matter, I’m sure we could free up 50% of the space in our mind. Start each day with a clean slate in your head and a clean slate on your desk. Decide what exactly needs to be tended to and thought about, what’s really important and what’s your mind playing tricks on you again.

17. Have things to look forward to!

Whether it’s your cat’s birthday tomorrow or a vacation in 6 months, have something to prep for and get excited about! Having something on your agenda to look forward to makes every day a little more compelling.

18. Know your worth, don’t give discounts.

Practice self-love, know your value, and never settle for less. Know when to leave the table if respect is no longer being served. You are the only you, and you need to be taken care of, a one-of-a-kind piece.

19. Open that mind!

The world has been turned upside down in the last year, and there is no better time to remove our blinders and open our minds. Never stop learning or growing; there is so much to be seen. “Have an open mind, have an empty cup.”

20. Slow down

Close your eyes, and take some deep breaths. Hop in the car blasting your favorite song, and take a detour. Give yourself some extra time to mosey around in the morning before work. Slow down, and enjoy your days. If you rush through life, you’ll miss the scenery and the sense of where you’re going.

These things work together to make my days feel full and wholesome. And even if you start with a few here and there, you’re bound to feel results! All in all, don’t wait to be told when to celebrate something. Treat every day as a new adventure and an epic celebration. You’re lucky to be here living this life; dance around and show it.
