With a few quick taps, audiobook retailer Audible grants subscribers access to a vast array of titles they can listen to endlessly on-the-go. But more chances to read doesn’t mean you have more time for bad books.
If you want to clean up your Audible library, consider exchanging the title if it’s eligible. If that’s not enough, deleting the books from your account is an option.

Here’s how to do it.

But when you want to remove books that you have already listened to, you may be wondering how to remove Audible books from an iPhone.
Audiobooks are a convenient alternative to a traditional book if you are often driving or doing something where reading would be difficult. Audible is one of the leading audiobook providers, and they have an iPhone app that allows for books to be downloaded directly to the device. You’ve probably been happily reading ebooks on your Kindle (or the Kindle app) for years, accruing a nice digital library full of interesting titles. But what if, for some reason, someone else needs to see that library of yours…and there are some items within that you’d rather they didn’t? Say, perhaps, one of those steamy romance novels that makes up a massive 34% of fiction sales in US?
Don’t worry, dear reader. We’re not here to judge your taste in fiction. But if for some reason you want to scrub your Amazon Kindle library clean of any not-so-family-friendly novels, here’s how to do it.
Removing Downloaded Books vs. Removing Them Permanently
For the sake of clarity: this guide is about completely removing a novel or other item from your Amazon Kindle Library, not removing a downloaded book from a linked Kindle or a Kindle app. Books that are downloaded and then deleted are still available as near-instant downloads from your personal Kindle Library, linked to your Amazon account and viewable online.
Removing an item from an individual Kindle is easy: long-press the book in the Home page, then tap “Remove from Device.”
On the Kindle smartphone app, it’s very similar, but you can long-press to select multiple items, then press the delete icon or “remove from device.”
Actually banishing the book from your library completely is a bit more complex.
Managing “Your Content and Devices” on Amazon
In order to remove a book from your cloud library entirely, you’ll want to use a laptop or desktop computer with a full web browser (a mobile browser will do in a pinch, if you have to). Go to the “Manage Your Content and Devices” section of your Amazon account: click this link to go there directly.
This page shows you everything you’ve purchased on your Kindle via Amazon. The link above takes you specifically to “Books,” but you can use the drop-down menu in the upper-left corner to select magazines, audiobooks, or even apps from the Amazon Appstore. We’ll stick to books for this demonstration.
You can find any single item in the list just by looking, but it might be faster to sort through the list with the “Sort By” drop-down menu, or simply do a manual search with the search bar on the right side of the window.
Once you’ve found the book you want to zap away, click the “…” menu button to the left of the title. In the pop-up window that appears, click “Delete.”
You’ll get one more warning, saying that deleting the item will permanently remove it from your Kindle Library. If you ever want to read this particular book again, you’ll have to re-purchase it at full price.
If you’re sure you want the book out of your library, click “Yes, delete permanently.” Poof, it’s gone forever.
Downloading Kindle books on either your app or the device allows you to read books on the go. However, your library can quickly fill up if you use it frequently, and it’s best to clear out old titles to make room for new reads.
Once you’ve finished reading a book on your Kindle, you can easily delete it in just a few easy steps.
To delete a book on your Kindle device, simply press down on the book cover that you’d like to delete. This will open a pop-up menu, tap “Remove from Device.”
The process for deleting a book on the Kindle mobile app looks almost identical, while the Kindle desktop app involves right-clicking on a book cover in your Library instead.

Q. I want to delete Kindle books from my iPad to free up space but I’m not sure about deleting books on the device versus the Cloud. When I open my Kindle app I see my library of Kindle books on “Device and Cloud”.
I read your article about deleting Kindle books but I want to be sure that I’m deleting the books the right way. Should I be deleting Kindle books from my device or from the Cloud? Can you help me make sure I’m doing it right? Thanks.
A. Great question. You’re right, there is a big difference in deleting a Kindle book from your device versus deleting it from the Cloud. When you delete a Kindle book from your device, the book is still available for you to re-download at any time on any device. You still own the book, you never have to buy it again.
When you delete a Kindle book from the Cloud, you are deleting the book permanently from your Amazon account so it is no longer available for downloading to your device. If you change your mind and want to read the book later you will have to re-purchase the Kindle book from Amazon.
Your Kindle Library — Cloud vs. Device
Your Kindle books are stored for you by Amazon in the Cloud and Amazon gives you unlimited space to store those Kindle books. You could buy every Kindle book Amazon sells and they would (happily) store them for you in the Cloud in your virtual Kindle library, without any charge for that storage.
When you download a Kindle book to your device, whether it’s a Kindle ereader, an app on a mobile device or your computer, then that book file takes up space on that device. You may want to only keep a limited number of books downloaded to be available to read or for reference purposes.
When you open the Kindle app on your iPad, you’ll see tabs for Cloud and Device.
Cloud — your entire library of Kindle books you own.
Device — your library of Kindle books you’ve downloaded to your device and are available to read.
[tip] You need an Internet connection to download a Kindle book to your device. Once the book is on your device you don’t need an Internet connection to read it. [/tip]
Deleting Kindle Books from Your Device vs. the Cloud
When you delete a Kindle book from your device, you will still be able to find it in your Amazon Kindle library. You can re-download it any time, anywhere you have an Internet connection.
But there may be times you want to delete a book from your Amazon Kindle library permanently. You may have just finished reading The Worst Book Ever and want to purge it from your Amazon account as well as your memory. Or maybe you bought a book on How to Meet Mr. Right and you’ve already met him so you’ll have no need for the book ever again! Or maybe, ahem, there’s a book you’ve already finished reading and you don’t want another living soul to know you ever owned it.
Anyway, there are plenty of reasons why you might want to delete a Kindle book from your account forever (or until you’re willing to buy it again).
How to Delete a Kindle Book from the Cloud
[note] To delete a Kindle book from your Amazon account permanently you cannot use the Kindle app, you must go to Amazon’s website. [/note]
To delete a Kindle book permanently from your account:
- Go to amazon.com and log into your account.
- Click on Your Account under your name to reveal a drop-down menu.
- Choose Manage Your Content and Devices
- Find the Kindle book you want to delete (you can use the search box in the upper right corner)
- Click the box to the left of the title. An orange box will appear around the title.
- Click the Delete button at the top of the page.
- You’ll be asked to confirm your selection.
- Click Yes, delete permanently
The Kindle book will be removed from your account.
Note that if you change your mind later you will have to repurchase the book.

Q. How do you delete Kindle books you have finished on an iPad?
A. When you have completed an e-book and are ready to remove it from your iPad, open the iOS Kindle app and go to your library screen that displays your collection. Tap the Downloaded button at the top of the screen to see only the books stored on the tablet.
When you find the book you want to delete, swipe to the left and tap the red Archive button. For more options, you can instead press your finger on the cover image for a second until a menu appears. Choose Remove From Device to delete the book from the iPad. (You can dump old sample chapters and other free content from the Kindle app by selecting the Delete Permanently option from the menu instead.)
Amazon keeps a record of all your content purchases in your online account with the company, which allows you to download and sync the same book across multiple devices running Kindle apps. Removing a book from the iPad does not delete it from your library of purchased books from Amazon’s cloud servers, and you can download it to the iPad again if you ever want to reread it.
To do that, tap the All button on your Kindle library screen to see all your purchases (not just the downloaded items). Tap the book cover to download it again.
If you want to permanently delete a book from your Kindle collection stored in the Amazon cloud, log into your account on the company’s site and go to the Manage Your Content and Devices page. You can get to it by clicking the triangle next to Your Account & Lists on the left side of the Amazon page and selecting Your Content and Devices.
Next, click the Your Content tab. In the list, find the book you want to remove for good and click the Actions button next to the title. In the pop-up menu, click Delete. You should see a warning box asking you to confirm your decision, as deleting the book here permanently erases it from your cloud library and you will have to buy it again if you want to read it again.

And then the selected copy will be removed from your device.
However, you can only remove free books from iBooks by this way. The purchased books from iBook/iTunes store still appear on the bookshelf with a cloud icon on the top right corner. This is because Apple’s policy will not allow you to delete purchase history, and you can redownload purchased books at any time with a simple click to the cloud icon.
The only way to make they disappeared from your sight is to hide books in iBooks with iCould badge. Tap “All Books” right above My Books page. Slide “Hide iCloud Books” and the bookshelf will be empty. This is the best you can do on the devices so far.

May 20, 2022 • Filed to: Recover Files • Proven solutions
There are several times when things we have downloaded are too embarrassing to have or just no longer of any use, these unwanted files take up valuable space and thus people jump towards deleting these downloads for good.
If in the past you have had trouble removing the things that you have downloaded from your device, then we have come here to your rescue. Here are 4 easy solutions that can help you delete downloaded files on Windows.
How to delete downloaded files on Windows
Let’s face it, most of us use Windows at home and in office. It is one of the easiest operating systems to work on. But if you have been having issues with deleting items or files on Windows, here is a step by step guide to making sure that you can get rid of those files and items forever.
Step 1. В Get to your downloaded items first!
First thing first, you need to go to the folder that stores your downloads. That is quite easy to access, all you have to do is press the button with the windows symbol on it along with the button marked “E”.
Once you are in the folder, you need to search for the item or file that you want to delete.
By default, the files that are downloaded are moved to the folder marked as “Downloads”. But this is not true in every case, sometimes, the users can place the files in other folders also. In that case, you need to locate the files using the search programs option.
Step 2. В Delete selected files.
The next step is fairly simple, you can either drag the files that you want to delete to theВ recycle binВ or you can right-click on the file and select the Delete option.
How to delete downloaded files on Mac
Step 1. В Access the very folder that stores your downloaded files!
The folder that stores the downloaded files by default can be accessed in two ways, you can use any you find more fitting and convenient.
1) Access the download folder via the Dock. You can simply click on your desktop, then press the tab marked “Go” and then move towards “Downloads”.
2) Access the folder containing the downloaded files from the sidebar using the Finder Window.
But if you have changed the location of the files that you have downloaded then you need to search for the file, in general, using the name of the file to get hold of it.
Step 2. В Download the disk image file also
An important thing to remember is that on MAC, the programs are downloaded as Disk Images, even after you have downloaded the programs these disk images remain on the computer, taking up huge amounts of space. So, when it comes to programs, uninstalling them is only half the game. Uninstalling the program should be accompanied by removing the Disk Images also. This will free a greater amount of space.
Step 3. В Take the files that you want to delete to the trash can.
Once you have located the file, you can drag the file to the trash can or just right click on the file and then press delete.
How to delete downloaded files on Android
Step 1. В Download a file application manager.
There is a huge range of file application managers available online. These application managers can easily be downloaded and then operated on devices that run on android.
Some of the most widely used application managers are:
1) ES File Explorer
2) Astro File Manager
Step 2. В Next, locate the files using any of the managers.
Once you have installed the application manager, (for the sake of understanding lets explore with the ES File Explorer), you need to open it. A screen will appear having all the files on the phone, you need to locate the folder marked downloads. Once you open the download folder you will be able to view all the files that you have downloaded on to your mobile device
Step 3. В Just press delete!
Once you are in the folder and you have located the file that you want to delete, all you have to do is press delete.
How to delete downloaded files on iPhone/iPad
The first step is to locate the files that you want to delete. In iOS you want don’t get to see all of your downloads in one location. You have to access the file that you want to delete using the application that is used to handle them. Once you have the file to view, all you have to do is swipe the file and the delete option will become visible. Press the delete option and that will be the end of that file for good.
Problems when deleting downloaded files and their solutions
a) At times the files cannot be deleted because they are in use, a pop like the one shown below appears. Fret, not just close the file and then repeat step number 2 just to delete the files again.
This can be a cause of great annoyance especially if you want to delete all the files quickly. One has to go back and check where exactly the file is open and then force it shut.
b) People cannot find the items that they want to delete.
IOS is a very complicated system. Unlike windows, it is not so easy to locate the files on this system as it is to locate them on windows. To get around this issue, people can simply have their phone jailbroken. Once its jailbroken you can then install application managers and manipulate files the same way they are manipulated on android systems.
c) At times iOS won’t let you delete your songs.
This is one issue that can be resolved by simply deleting the song from the iTunes folder. Once that song is deleted from there it won’t appear on your mobile iOS device either.
If you lost data on your computer, unfortunately, don’t worry! You still have the chance to get lost data back. To recover files from the computer, you can have tried the following tool.
The iPhone is one of the most popular smartphones worldwide. Despite the basic phone calling and messaging functions, it also lets people enjoy media files on-the-go while audiobook is just one of them. Audiobook provides an easy way for users to listen to their favorite books without having to read text. It saves time. But in most situations, they want to delete the audiobooks from iPhone which they have already listened. In so doing, you can free up more space for important files.
There are several ways on how to delete audiobooks from iPhone. You could delete audiobooks manually, or remove a collection of them at once, or even choose to permanently clean them with no trace left. Here’s a guide outlining these methods.
Solution 1: Delete an audiobook directly from your iPhone
Deleting items such as images, videos, and emails is usually accomplished through swiping a finger over the selection to the left. However, this isn’t possible with audiobooks. But it doesn’t mean that users can’t remove audiobooks from iPhone directly. Here’s the process.
- Go to the “Settings” menu and open the “General” tab.
- Open the “Usage” tab and then select the “Storage” option. The “Storage” menu provides you with a list of all items stored in the memory along with their respective size.
- Tap on the “Music” tab. This gives you all audio files stored on device. The reason why audiobooks are found under the “Music” tab is that it’s stored in audio format.
- Tap an audiobook you wish to delete, swipe to the left. This reveals the “Delete” option and finally tap the option.
If you wish to delete multiple audiobooks from your iPhone, check the audiobooks you want to eliminate and then hit “Delete” to remove them at once.
Solution 2: Remove all audiobooks from iPhone with Apple iTunes
- To delete audiobook from iPhone using the iTunes app, first switch on the device and connect it to a computer.
- Next select the iTunes option on your device if it doesn’t open automatically. On the iTunes app window on your computer, click on down-arrow to expand the list “Devices – Audiobooks” option. This displays the Summary window.
Solution 3: Permanently delete audiobooks from iPhone
The iPhone data cleaner is a software designed to help iPhone users permanently delete audiobooks from iPhone on the computer. Besides audiobooks, the app can be used to delete files in different types including video, text messages, email, account password and installed apps. Unlike aforementioned methods, data deleted using this tool cannot be recovered.
Users are provided with two deletion modes. The partial erase option will erase previously deleted files in the iPhone making them unrecoverable. The complete erase option will erase all data and restore the iPhone to factory settings. None of the data can be recovered.
Depending on the completion of deletion, there’re three levels. The low level is for fast deletion of data from the iPhone. And the medium level takes a bit more time to delete data. Besides erasing data in the device, random data is added to overwrite the erased data in medium level. The deletion based on high level consumes the most time to erase data. It erases all data in the iPhone including passwords and confidential information stored in the device.
The quick guide of how to delete audiobooks from iPhone:
- Install the software in your computer.
- Connect your iPhone to your computer using USB cable. The tool automatically detects the device and displays the user interface on the computer screen. To permanently erase all data in the iPhone select the “Erase All Data on Device” option. This restores the device to factory settings.
- To remove audiobooks from iPhone permanantly and leave zero possibility for them to be recovered, select the “Erase Deleted Files” option.
There are many reasons why you might want to delete audiobooks on iPhone. These three methods will allow you to partially or permanently delete audiobooks. The first two methods are suitable for those who only want to free up some space on their device. But if you want to clean the stuff without licking info to others, you could use a professional data erasing tool. On the other hand, the iPhone data cleaner is best suited if you intend to sell or donate your device or want to permanently erase data.

If you just discovered Audible, you may be wondering how to buy and download audiobook titles on your device(s). There are several ways you can purchase Audible books, including from the Audible website or app, a direct audiobook purchase on Amazon, or Audible narrations of owned Kindle books on Amazon.
How to Buy Books on the Audible Website
If you’re an Audible subscriber, you are notified when you’ve been charged and have credits available. You can then begin adding the books you want to your Audible Wish List. Like Amazon Wish Lists, there’s no limit on the number of items you can gather, although, unlike Amazon, you can have only one list on Audible.
Your Audible Wish List is separate from the Amazon wish lists. You’re able to place the same title on both sites. However, Amazon prevents you from purchasing a book you already have in your Audible library.
While browsing a book’s details, you’ll see the price listed alongside the cost to purchase with credits. Although the cost to purchase books with a credit card can differ, you can get almost any book with one credit.
To buy a book on the Audible website:
When you’re browsing a list, select Add to Cart next to one or more books that you want.
Alternatively, if you’re looking at a book’s detail, you can select Buy Now for $[price], which takes you to the payment for only that book.
Select the cart at the top of the page to see the books you added.
In the cart, if you have credits available, Audible uses them first to cover your purchase. If they aren’t enough, you’ll see the subtotal required to buy the rest of your items.
You can choose which books use credits and which you’ll pay for with cash. Be sure to use your credits on the most expensive books first.
Select Proceed to Checkout to make your purchase.
Review your order on the next page. Make sure everything is correct and select Complete Purchase or select Edit Items to go back and make changes.
After you finish buying your new books, you land on a page confirming your success.
Your new books are available for download in your Library.
How to Buy Books on Audible Using the App
Purchasing books using the Audible app is as easy as using the website, and it follows similar steps.
These steps apply to the Audible app for Windows, Android, and iOS.
Select a book from either the store or your Wish List and tap Buy Now for $[price] to buy the book individually, as there is no cart in the app.
Alternately, tap “x” Credit(s) available to purchase using any credits you have. This option is grayed out if you don’t have any credits.
Select Confirm Purchase from the screen that pops up.
When your purchase goes through, you see a confirmation screen.
On the Audible Android and iOS app, tap View in Library to jump to the book in your Library, where you can download it. The Windows version doesn’t have this option.
How to Buy Books on Audible From Amazon
Buying books in Audible format through the Amazon website is included as one of the format options, alongside others, such as hardback, paperback, and Kindle.
Purchasing this way works the same way as it does for other formats, including the cart process and confirmation. The only difference is the book appears in your Audible Library.
How to Download Your Audible Books
Once your purchase is complete, the items appear in your Library. From the Audible website, you can stream your books, which start playing immediately. However, on mobile devices, it’s better to download them.
There are two sections to the Library on Windows, iOS, and Android devices:
- Cloud: A collection of the items you purchased in the past.
- Device: Contains only the items you downloaded locally.
Make sure you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network when downloading books unless you have a high-speed, unlimited data plan. Some books, depending on the length, can be 1 GB in size and can make a big impact on your data cap.
On all platforms, the books you haven’t downloaded appear with a download icon in the corner. To download them:
Select the three horizontal dots icon next to your desired book.
The book starts to download. You can start listening to it as it downloads, but don’t disconnect from the broadband network yet. Wait until the progress spinner indicates the download is done.
Adding Audible Narration to a Kindle Book You Own
If you already own a book for your Kindle, you can add the audible narration.
From Amazon.com, go to Account & Lists > Your content and devices > Content.
Select the three horizontal dots icon to the left of a book you own.
If the book is also available on Audible, select Add Narration below the book’s cover.
If you transferred audiobooks to your iPod using OverDrive for Windows, you can delete them manually from your device using iTunes.
Note: Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed before trying these steps.
- Open iTunes.
- Connect your iPod to your computer.
- Select the Device button near the top-left corner of iTunes.
On the “Summary” screen, see if Manually manage music and videos is selected (under “Options”).
If it is selected, continue to step 5.
If it isn’t selected, skip to the second set of instructions in this article to delete the audiobook from iTunes and sync your device to your iTunes library.
Navigate to your audiobooks. By default, they’re stored in Music in the left-hand pane (under “On My Device”).
Right-click on the MP3 title(s) you want to delete, then select Delete from Library.
If you don’t have “Manually manage music and videos” enabled and you’d like to keep your entire iTunes library synced to your iPod, follow the steps below to delete an audiobook and sync your device:
- Open iTunes.
- Connect your iPod to your computer.
- Navigate to your audiobooks. By default, they’re stored in Music in the left-hand pane (under “Devices”).
- Right-click on the audiobook you want to remove from your iTunes library, then select Delete from Library.

- In the left-hand pane, go to Settings > Music (or wherever you keep audiobooks). Make sure that Sync Music (or Sync Audiobooks) is selected.
- Click Sync. The audiobook should be removed from your device.
- Once you’re done, click the eject button next to your device’s name to safely unplug it.
If you have an iPod shuffle, follow the steps below to remove audiobooks from your device:
- Open iTunes.
- Connect your iPod shuffle to your computer.
- Go to On This iPod in the left-hand pane.
- Select the audiobook you want to remove, then press Delete or Backspace on your keyboard.

Want the best prices on audiobooks without a required subscription or monthly membership? Chirp Books is for you! Plus, you can use the code EVERYDAYREADING30 for 30% off your first purchase!
A few years ago, I’d never heard of Chirp.
But then I started getting emails from readers asking what I knew about Chirp and that’s always a sure sign I should start investigating.
If you love a good audio book deal, Chirp is for you.
Most audio book apps, like Audible and Scribd, are primarily subscription services.
You pay a monthly membership fee and in the case of Audible, you can choose 1 book from their massive audio book collection.
In the case of Scribd, you pay that monthly fee and you can listen to as many books as you’d like from their collection.
Chirp is different because it’s a dedicated site for audio book deals with no membership plan or fees.
Publishers put their audio books on massive sale all the time, but tracking them all is a massive undertaking.
That’s where Chirp comes in.
Every day, they highlight the best audio book deals, sorted by genre and with information about how long the deal will last.
The prices are REALLY good (the highest price tag I’ve seen on Chirp book deals is $4.99) and many of the books cost $2 or less.
Plus, their website is very clean and easy to navigate.
And you can sign up for their emails and they’ll send you an email every day with the best deals.
Once you’ve bought an audio book, you can listen to it on the free Chirp app from your phone or tablet or your can stream it from your computer.
And you own the audiobook, so you have it forever.
And, like Audible, they have a money back guarantee, so if you buy an audiobook and hate it, they’ll give you a refund.
You AREN’T likely to find the biggest newest audio books on Chirp (although occasionally you may!) but you can get screaming deals on audio books that are a couple of years old.
Here are a few examples of sale titles right now:
- The Royal We is normally $24.98 but is currently $4.99
- The Girl He Used to Know is generally $19.99 but is $3.99 right now
- The Young Readers edition of Just Mercy is $20.00 usually but is $3.99 this week
- Princess Academy– a full cast audio performance my girls and I LOVED – is down from $21.95 to $2.99
And that just scratches the surface – I check Chirp every week for my weekend book deals posts and they never disappoint!
One other thing of note about Chirp is that New York Times bestselling audiobooks are always on their site for up to 35% off, which often makes them cheaper than using an Audible credit for them. And if you use the code EVERYDAYREADING30 on your first purchase, you’ll get an extra 30% off which definitely makes them less!
If you try Chirp out, I’d love to hear how you like it!
And if you have questions, let me know and I’ll do my best to answer!
When Amazon announced the new Kindle a few weeks back, one of the features mentioned in the footnotes was that the new device would have the option to filter your library for books that you either had or had not read.
As you can probably guess, I was one of many who were excited to see this feature, and I couldn’t wait to see it (I even asked Amazon when it would be rolled out, but they did not respond).
Well, I have seen it, and I have a report from a Kindle owner who has seen it, and the feature doesn’t work the way I had expected.
I was sitting in my car this evening, reading on my Android smartphone, when the Kindle app used a pop-up to inform me that the app had the new Read/Unread filter. It seems the feature had been added in the late March 2019 update, but had only just been activated on my phone today.
I was at the Hanover Writing Club meeting to discuss the final details for their book festival next week (I organized the author gift bag) but since I still had a few minutes I immediately started playing with the new filter to see how it worked.
I had assumed that the “read” label would be automatically applied when I finished or nearly finished a book, and that does happen when you reach the 100% mark on an ebook.
But no one actually gets to that point unless they are testing the Kindle app for errors, and that’s why you can also mark an ebook as “read”. After some experimentation I found that I could mark an ebook as read, but only in the library, and not inside the ebook.
It’s great that there’s a manual option; this let me identify the ebooks I have abandoned so i can go back and delete them all in one go.

I saw people sharing their experience of how Apple Music has been deleting songs from their library, and most of them believe that it’s a bug from Apple. But actually, it is not. Then why Apple Music is “deleting” songs from your iPhone or iTunes? That’s what we’re going to help you find out today. Plus, we’ll introduce some troubleshooting tips to see if you can get your issues fixed and stop Apple Music from removing your music files.
You May Like:
Why Does Apple Music Delete My Songs?
1. Your Apple Music Subscription Is Invalid
After you sign up for Apple Music, you are enabled to use iCloud Music Library which is for matching, uploading and storing your songs in cloud so that you can listen to your music on all your iOS devices anytime anywhere. It shares the similar features with iTunes Match when it comes to syncing and matching songs. But the only difference is that, all the songs you download back from iCloud during your Apple music subscription, are DRM-protected. And when you cancel your subscription, all music files you’ve downloaded via iCloud Music Library will be removed.
So Apple Music is actually deleting the songs that have DRM-protection. If your music files are DRM-free, they will be “safe” unless they’ve been added DRM by Apple. It’s important to make a backup of your DRM-free songs before you start using Apple Music.
2. “Optimize Storage” Is Turned on for Music
If Apple Music are deleting songs from your iPhone, then you should check if you have turned on “Optimize Storage” in your Music app.
When this feature is enabled, it means you allow Apple to manage the music files stored on your iOS device based on the minimum storage you choose, such as 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.
If your iPhone is low on space, Apple will automatically delete music that you haven’t played in a while to free up your iPhone music storage.
Here’s how to turn off optimized storage for music:
Step 1. Go to Settings > select Music > scroll down and find “Optimize Storage”.
Step 2. Click “Optimize Storage” and then tap the toggle to turn it “OFF”.
3. iCloud Music Library Is Disabled on Your Devices
When iCloud Music Library are disabled on your iPhone or iPad, all songs you’ve downloaded before will be removed.
For those who switch to a new iPhone or just finish an iOS update, you’d better go check if iCloud Music Library are enabled on your device.
How to turn on iCloud Music Library:
Step 1. Sign into your iPhone or iPad with the Apple ID that you use with Apple Music.
Step 2. Go to Settings > Music and turn on iCloud Music Library by switch the button to “ON”.
4. “Show Apple Music” Is Turned OFF on your iPhone or iPad
If “For You” tab is disappeared from your Music app, or you cannot find your Apple Music streaming songs in the app, then go to Settings > Music and turn the “Show Apple Music” option to “ON”.
How to Stop Apple Music from Deleting Songs after Canceling Subscription/Trial
Tips #1: Keep A Backup of Your Music Library before Joining Apple Music
For Apple Music users, it’s always important to make an extra backup of your purchased songs, CD songs and other music files on your primary computer before you start using Apple Music streaming service.
By doing so, you won’t be afraid of losing your songs due to Apple Music’s matching feature and DRM-encryption. Even if Apple Music randomly delete songs, you can restore the files with ease.
Tips #2: Remove DRM and Convert Apple Music Songs to MP3/M4A/AAC
There’s a once and for all solution to stop Apple Music songs from disappearing after cancelling subscription or free trial. You can use a tool like TuneFab Apple Music Converter to download the DRM-free version of Apple Music songs before the subscription ends.
TuneFab Apple Music Converter is able to get access to your entire iTunes music library, including Apple Music songs, purchased songs, iTunes audiobooks, Audible audiobooks, etc. It can not only remove DRM protection from Apple Music, but also convert Apple Music songs to DRM-free format such as MP3 so that you can keep the songs playable on any device forever.
Audible is the biggest name in audiobooks, but even if you’ve spent hundreds of hours listening, there are some tricks hidden beneath the surface. Here are some of the best ways to get the most of your Audible experience and even save some money in the process.
Most Popular Audiobook Service: Audible
Finding time to listen to audiobooks is easy—almost as easy as it is to find great audiobooks to…
Enroll In the Secret Silver Subscription Plan to Save Money
While you can buy audiobooks from Audible outright, the service also offers a subscription that costs $15/month. With it, you get one credit for a free book each month. If you listen to a lot of audiobooks, that might be a good deal. However, if you can stretch a single audiobook out over more than a month, then you can save a bit of money. Audible has a hidden Silver plan that costs $15 every two months, instead of every month. You still only get one free credit every time your subscription renews, but if six books a year is enough for you, then it’s a no brainer.
The catch is, Audible doesn’t advertise the Silver plan. You can’t even sign up for it without asking for it. If you want Audible Silver, head to this support link . In the first section, select My Account. In the second section choose “Change or cancel my membership” for the first drop down, then “Upgrade/downgrade my membership” from the second drop down. This will help make sure you reach the right person. You can then contact Audible by chat, phone or email there. Keep in mind, since Silver isn’t an advertised plan, you might get turned down but Audible is usually pretty accommodating.
Microsoft Office Professional 2021 Lifetime License
Enjoy Microsoft’s suite of essentials with a one-time purchase and installation, as opposed to that fee you’re paying every month.
Put Your Account On Hold to Save Your Credits Until You Need Them
When there’s a lull in between your favorite book releases or you don’t have time to listen for a while, it’d be nice to stop paying for all those credits you aren’t using. If you cancel your subscription entirely, you’ll lose your credits. Before you get that far, though, Audible will offer to let you put your account on hold.
Audible allows you to put your account on hold once a year for a period of up to three months. During that time, you can still listen to your library of books, spend your existing credits, and get discounts in the store. However, you won’t generate any new credits. It’s a handy way to take a temporary break or save a little extra cash for a while.
Use Amazon Matchmaker to Scan For WhisperSync Compatible Upgrades
WhisperSync is one of Amazon’s best features for both Audible and Kindle. If you have both the ebook and audiobook versions of a title, you can sync your place between them. So, for example, you can listen to a few chapters on the ride home from work, then pick up where you left off when you pick up your Kindle for some light reading before bed. However, you have to buy both versions first.
Amazon Matchmaker can scan your Kindle library to find out which books have an audiobook counterpart. Head to this link and sign into your Amazon account. It will automatically scan your Kindle library, find any matching audiobooks, and show you the discounted price for each. Amazon won’t give you the option to use your Audible credits through this method, though you may not want to anyway. Remember, you get a discount for buying the audiobook counterpart to an ebook you already have. You may be better off saving those credits for expensive audiobooks that you don’t get a discount on.
All the Ways to Get Amazon Prime for Free
If you order from Amazon a lot—or if you take full advantage of Prime video and Amazon Music…
Change How Far the Back and Forward Buttons Jump
The Audible player has a handy button that lets you jump backwards or forwards 30 seconds at a time. However, if you dive into the app’s settings, you can change how far these buttons jump. To edit these buttons, tap the menu button in the app, tap Settings, and choose Playback Settings. Here, you’ll see two separate options to change the Jump Back and Jump Forward buttons. You can change this value to anything from one second to five minutes.
Download Higher Quality Audiobooks For Crisper Sound
By default, Audible will download the lower (or “Standard”) quality version of the audiobooks you buy. Most of the time, you might not notice the difference, but some audiobooks have high production quality with music and top-quality voice overs. In those cases, you might want a better audio source.
To get the better version, open up the settings in the Audible app and tap Download Settings, then tap Download Format. Finally, choose “High Quality.” If you’ve already downloaded your audiobooks, you may need to remove it and download it again it to get the higher quality version. Keep in mind that higher quality audio will result in larger downloads, so make room on your device for the files.
Resume Your Audiobooks When You Plug In Your Headphones
Audible, like most audio apps, will automatically pause when you unplug your headphones. However, you can also set it to resume playback when you plug them back in. It only works when the app is running, so it’s mainly designed at situations like if you unplug your phone from your car while you run in the gas station, or if your headphones accidentally get pulled out of their socket. To enable this feature, open up Audible’s settings and tap Headset & Lockscreen Settings. Enable the toggle that reads “Resume Playback.”

I have lots of space left on my Sony Reader (a PRS-T1), but I also have a few books on there that I don’t want to read again (or at all). I am trying to figure out how to remove them from the reader using the software that came with it, but I seem to be missing some vital bit of explanation, because I can’t seem to take books off of the reader.
Some of the books I want to remove are expired library loans, and some are actual books I have bought and paid for, if that makes any difference. Ideally, I’d like a way to remove multiple titles at once, but if not, one at a time will work too.
If you want to remove files from the PRS-T1 you can connect the reader via its USB cable to a computer and have the internal memory available as a USB drive. The TRS-1 shows itself as two USB devices, one named SETTINGS, the other READER. The books are normally under READER/BOOKS.
You can just search for, and delete the books with your OS’ file browser.
The device will rebuild the database of available books after disconnecting it from the computer. Make sure to properly remove the device, do not just unplug it.

Adding a response for future people like me I’ve got a Sony PRS-T2, accessed on the laptop with Adobe Reader for PC.
I’ve found that adding or deleting books to the ereader using the computer’s File Explorer (as suggested by a previous commenter) does NOT work. To add books, you have to use the related program (Reader for PC) to import books onto the device. And deleting books via the file explorer seems to do nothing at all.
I couldn’t find a way to delete things from the eReader itself using the program. For my eReader, the only way to delete things that I have found is (as described by the other commenter) to go onto the eReader itself (not the computer), go to the bookshelves, press and hold on the relevant book
- this comes up with a menu, one of the options is delete.
This is a one at a time thing, I can’t see a mass delete method. This is probably deliberate to prevent accidental disaster.

On Sony PRS-650 when you read a book, press the Menu button then there is a Delete Book menu entry.
PRS-T1 manual says the following:
Deleting a Single Item
You can delete individual items. The following instructions use the [Books] application as an example; this feature is also available in other applications.
- Press the (Home) button tap [Books].
- Tap and hold an item. The option items appear.
- Tap [Delete].
- Tap [Yes] when prompted. The item is deleted from the Reader.
