Facebook may be responsible for putting the word “social” in social media, but there are times when you don’t want — or don’t have time — to engage with friends.

If you want to log into Facebook without your friends knowing you’re online, you can easily turn off your “active status” so you appear offline.

There are three different places where you can control your active status: on Facebook in a web browser, in the Facebook mobile app, and in the Facebook Messenger mobile app.

How to turn off active status on Facebook in a web browser

To turn off active status and appear offline on Facebook:

1. Open Facebook in a browser and log in, if you’re not already.

2. Click the circular Messenger icon in the top-right corner.

3. In the Messenger drop-down, click the three-dot icon at the top.

4. Click Turn off Active Status in the drop-down menu.

5. A pop-up will appear asking if you want to Turn off Active Status for all contacts, Turn off Active Status for all contacts except, or Turn off Active Status for only some contacts. When you click the latter two options, a box will appear where you can enter the names of specific people.

6. Click OK when you’re done.

Note: You can also do this by clicking the Messenger icon in the top-right corner and clicking See all in Messenger at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

Then, on the full-screen Messenger page, click the three-dot icon in the top-left corner, choose Preferences, click Turn off Active Status in the pop-up, and choose your active status.

How to turn off active status in the Facebook mobile app

1. Open the Facebook app on your phone.

2. Tap the three horizontal lines (called the “hamburger menu”) in the top-right corner on Android or the bottom-right corner on iPhone.

3. Tap Settings & Privacy, and then tap Settings.

4. Tap Active Status under the Privacy section.

5. Turn off Show when you’re active by moving the slider to the left and then confirm by tapping Turn Off in the pop-up.

How to turn off active status in the Facebook Messenger mobile app

1. Open the Facebook Messenger app on your phone.

2. From the main Chats page, tap your profile’s avatar at the top-left of the screen.

3. Tap Active Status.

4. Turn off Show when you’re active by moving the slider to the left and then confirm by tapping Turn Off in the pop-up.

You can make yourself invisible on Facebook by turning off the Chat option using a desktop PC/laptop computer or an Android smartphone. When the Chat option is disabled on Facebook, none of your online friends can see you online, and you will be shown as offline to them.

Once the Chat option is turned off, the only way to guess your availability on Facebook will be by the status updates that you may post on your timeline, or due to any activity that you perform as it is displayed in your friends’ newsfeeds.

In other words, if you turn off the Chat option on your Facebook account and don’t do anything, you will remain completely invisible to all your friends until you manually turn Chat back on.

Here’s how you can turn the Chat option off and make yourself invisible on Facebook:

    ■Turn on your Android phone.
■Tap the Menu button to go to the apps list.

■Finally tap the back button to return to the previous interface.

Q: Growing tired of the Facebook privacy scandals, I tried to leave the social network, but you need to be a member now to access a number of outside websites. How can I get around this?

A: Facebook, as you’re well aware by this point, has a history of privacy scandals. CEO Mark Zuckerberg is constantly trying to push what privacy means in the 21st century — how transparent should we all be on the Internet? — but with each step, a significant number of users push back. Last week, Facebook announced on its Developers blog that it was making it possible for third-party applications to gain access to users’ mobile phone numbers and addresses. By early Monday morning the Facebook team had dialed back the change until further notice. (For more on this issue: “The Next Facebook Privacy Scandal: Sharing Phone Numbers, Addresses.”)

Some of the privacy issues have been just too much for users, resulting in cancelled accounts. But more and more organizations are joining the Facebook Connect network and incorporating the site’s development tools into their own. It’s getting to the point where you’re at a disadvantage if you don’t have a Facebook account; you can use it to log in with the same username and password on more than two million sites — it’s not just for checking in on your cousin’s newest baby pictures. So, here’s the trick: You can go completely invisible on Facebook — nobody will be able to view your photographs, see your activity or where you’ve checked in except for existing friends — but still have an account to use around the web.

If you’re ready to move into Facebook stealth mode, follow these simple steps:

  • Visit Facebook.com, log in to your profile and click ‘Account’ in the top-right corner. From there, choose ‘Privacy Settings.’
  • From the ‘Privacy Settings’ page, click on ‘View Settings’ to see who can search for you, send messages to your account, see your education and work settings and more. Change all of these drop-down menus to ‘Friends Only.’
  • Return to the ‘Privacy Settings’ page and choose ‘Customize Settings’ near the bottom of the page. This new page will load a number of different privacy options, but you’ll want to click through each one and change the setting to ‘Only Me’ so that nobody else can see your Facebook activity.
  • Stay on the ‘Customize Settings’ page and scroll down to ‘Things Others Share.’ Here, you’ll want to edit and disable settings so that your friends are unable to write on your wall, comment on posts and check you in to places.
  • Return to the ‘Privacy Settings’ page and, under ‘Apps and Websites’ in the bottom-left corner, select ‘Edit Your Settings.’ This page shows all of the third-party websites and applications that you have given access to some of your Facebook information. If you see anything on this list that you want to remove, just click to remove it from the list.
  • Stay on the ‘Apps and Websites’ page, scroll down to ‘Instant Personalization’ and select ‘Edit Settings.’ Uncheck the box at the bottom of this page to block other websites from accessing your Facebook interests. Select ‘Confirm’ when a pop-up asks you if you’re sure you want to disable this option.
  • Return to the ‘Apps and Websites’ page, scroll down to ‘Public Search’ and select ‘Edit Settings.’ To keep search engines from finding your Facebook profile, uncheck the box on this new screen.

If you use Facebook Messenger for any reason, all of your friends who also use the service can tell when you’re active. This makes it kind of hard to ignore people you don’t really want to talk to. Fortunately, there’s an easy way to hide your active status.

Disable Active Status on Mobile

If — like most users — you use Messenger on mobile, finding where to disable your Active Status can be a little confusing because it’s tucked away a bit.

Note: You can find this setting in the same place on both iPhone and Android, though the menus look slightly different. We’re using Android for the following instructions, but you should be able to follow along on an iPhone without issues.

Fire up the Messenger app, and then tap your profile picture — it’s in the top left.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

Next, tap the “Active Status” tab near the top.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

Tap the toggle to the right to disable your active status. Just note that doing so also disables your ability to see the active status of other people. It seems Facebook wants this to be a two-way street. If you’re cool with that, you’re done here.

Disable Active Status on Messenger.com

You can also disable your status on the Messenger web front end. Head to Messenger.com, and then click the three small dots in the upper left corner.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

Click “Turn Off Active Status” once you’re in the Preferences menu.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

The next menu allows you to control who can see you active — if you want to be totally invisible, select “Turn Off Active Status For All Contacts.” The other two options let you be a bit more specific. The second from the top allows you to hide your status from everyone barring a few chosen exceptions. The third option is the exact opposite — it lets you change your activity status so specific people cannot see that you’re online.

Pick whichever option you prefer, and then click “Okay.”

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

Again, note that turning off your active status also means you won’t be able to see other people’s active status.

Your online status allows people to know if you are available to chat at that moment or not. Find out how to appear offline!

How to change your status on Facebook Messenger?

This setting is not well publicized in the app and may have gone unnoticed by many users. Nonetheless, it still exists as an option.

For iPhone

To appear offline using an iPhone, open the Facebook Messenger for iPhone app and select your profile icon (usually a round circle containing your profile picture). Click on the Active Status tab.

Toggle the switch to Off so that it no longer shows when you are active.

Now that you have successfully disabled Facebook Chat on your iPhone, you will no longer appear in your friends’ Active tabs and will also no longer be able to see when your friends are active.

For Android

To appear offline using Android, open the Facebook Messenger for Android app, then click your profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen. Next, go to Active Status.

There, you will see the Show when you’re active option. To appear offline, you need to deactivate this setting.

To confirm your changes, select Turn off in the dialog box that appears.

Note: After deactivating your online status, you won’t be able to see when your contacts are active or have been recently active on Facebook Messenger.

Facebook may be responsible for putting the word “social” in social media, but there are times when you don’t want — or don’t have time — to engage with friends. If you want to log into Facebook and not worry that friends will see you and try to chat, you can easily change your “active status” so you appear offline.

There are no fewer than four places you can control your active status. There’s both Messenger and Chat on the Facebook web page if you’re browsing, as well as in the Facebook and Facebook Messenger mobile apps.

How to appear offline when using Facebook in a web browser

Unfortunately, Facebook continues to treat Facebook Messenger and Facebook Chat as different things in the web browser, even though all of your conversations end up in the same window. It’s possible that you didn’t even realize that Facebook has two different instant messaging features on the web.

Here’s the difference: When you click the Messenger shortcut on the left side of the Facebook page, you open Facebook Messenger. But if you text someone from the pop-up window that appears over your Facebook news feed, that’s Facebook Chat. You’ll want to set your active status for both of these.

1. Open Facebook in a browser.

2. In the Chat tab in the lower right corner of your screen, click the Gear icon and then click “Turn Off Active Status.”

3. In the Active Status window that appears, click “Turn off active status for all contacts” and then click “Okay.”

It’s worth pointing out that you can make it appear that you’re offline only for certain users. If there’s one or more people whom you would rather not chat with, you can choose to “Turn off active status for only some contacts…” and enter those names. You can also do the opposite — choose “Turn off active status for all contacts except…” This way you can appear offline for almost everyone, but let a select few people be able to see your real active status.

The Facebook Messenger default settings show when you are active online and available to chat with a co-worker or friend. Your connections see a green dot on their Facebook Messenger app or Facebook website that indicates you’re available, and you can see which of your connections are available to receive messages in real time by locating the green light next to their names. This makes it easy to connect with someone in real time when you know they are online and can see your message.

In the Messenger app and in Messenger at the Facebook website, you can hide the fact that you are online, and other users will not know you are active. In the Facebook browser version, you have more options for your visibility than in the app. Either way, you are not required to show as active on chat. You can send and read messages regardless of your status.

Removing the Green Dot on Facebook Messenger App

To turn off the green light on Facebook Messenger on your mobile device, open the Facebook Messenger app on your smartphone or tablet. Tap your profile picture at the top of the open app. Scroll through the Setting options until you reach the “Active Status” option and tap it. Turn off the ability of other users to see when you are active or recently active by selecting the dot or slider next to the text labeled “Show when you’re active_”_ in the screen that opens. A popup window opens noting that you won’t be able to see when your friends are active or recently active. Select “Turn Off” to complete the action and remove the active status and green dots inside the Messenger app. You can still chat and see everyone in your chat list, but not their active status.

Turning off your active status in the Messenger app on your mobile device does not turn off your active status in chat on the Facebook website.

Change Messenger Settings in a Web Browser

Facebook Messenger looks different when viewed in a web browser because it is integrated with Facebook as a whole and does not work as an independent app. Your chat contacts appear in a panel to the right of the main Facebook screen. When you are online, you can see a green dot next to each person on the list who is also currently online. When you are inactive, you can still see their names and send messages to them, but you can’t see if they are online, and they can’t see whether you are online.

To turn off your active chat status, scroll to the bottom of the list of chat contacts and click the gear Settings icon. Select “Turn Off Active Status.” At that point, you can opt to “Turn off active status for all contacts,” “Turn off active status for all contacts except. ” or “Turn off active status for only some contacts. ” in the popup screen.

Your choice does not affect your active status on the Messenger app. You must set each device individually.

You can also toggle your active status on and off from the main Messenger screen inside Facebook. To do that, click on the “Messages” icon at the top of the Facebook screen to view a list of recent messages. Go to the bottom of this list and select “See All in Messenger.” On the left of the screen that opens you will see a list of recent messages. Above this list is a menu icon that resembles a wheel. Click the icon and select “Settings.” A pop up appears with the same “Show when you’re active” option you saw in the app. Toggle the slider to the right for active status and to the left for inactive status.

Facebook’s secret messenger feature allows users to talk to one another in a completely private and closed-off chat.

Secret Conversations enables two friends to speak to each other in an encrypted space which no-one else, including Facebook, is able to view. The feature provides users with device keys that ensure no one can sneak a peak at what they say to each other.

FB Secret Conversation 4.png

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

The messages that are sent and received are only available to read on the device you use to either create or open your conversation. That means you can’t view a previous conversation on your laptop if you initially created or opened it on your smartphone, for example.

As well as this, Secret Conversations creates an ephemeral nature to your conversations by allowing you to control how long your messages can be seen by the person you send them to.

If you make your message available for 30 seconds, for example, a timer appears on the right hand side and then displays a countdown showing how many seconds the message is available for, before it disappears. You are given options to display your message, from as little as five seconds, to a maximum of 24 hours. There is also an option to turn this feature off.

It’s worth noting that if you send someone a message through Secret Conversations, they will know it’s a secret chat because the message bubble, which is usually blue, will be black. Next to their image it will read ‘Encrypted from one device to the other’ to let both parties know they’re engaged in a secret chat.

You are able to have both a normal Facebook messenger conversation as well as a Secret Conversation with the same person. A padlock icon is displayed next to the person’s profile picture to tell you if a conversation is ‘Secret’. You are still – like a normal Facebook message conversation – able to block and report users.

All Secret Conversations can be deleted from your Facebook app. This doesn’t delete the same conversation or message from the other person’s device, however.

Although Secret Conversations is designed as a completely private space for messaging, Facebook does state that users are still able to screenshot these messages, which may then be shared.

Secret Conversations is currently available to i0S and Android users.

Parent Zone’s view

Secret Conversations echoes features other apps, such as Snapchat, have had for some time, but there are safety implications for parents to consider if your child has a Facebook account.

Legally, they can sign up for the service from the age of 13. This means children will be able to have completely private conversations with anyone they are friends with on Facebook. The main difference between this and the previous ‘direct messaging’ feature is that these conversations cannot be accessed on devices other than the one the conversation is created on.

Some parents of younger children only allow them to open a Facebook account in return for knowing their password so they can monitor what they are doing in the app. If this is you, you should be aware that this feature means that children could be having private conversations on their phones that you will never see if you log into their account on another device.

Explore.

Parent Zone: expert advice on digital awareness and safety

One other thing to note is that if someone sends them something that upsets them, the messages will disappear. Facebook says it can decrypt recent messages to check the content if you contact its Help Team to report them. But if someone has been cyberbullying your child, for example, it looks like they will have to remember to screen grab the message if they want proof of what was said, unless they think to report it immediately.

As ever, one of the best things you can do to keep your child safe using any social media app, or when going online in general, is to 1) talk to them about the possible safety implications of the platforms they are using, 2) teach them how to block users they don’t want to talk to, and 3) encourage them to come to you or an adult they trust if anyone they talk to online does anything to make them feel upset or uncomfortable.

If you are the type of person who likes the stay off the radar when browsing social media, then you will want to know about Instagram’s latest activity status feature. Recently, Instagram pushed an update that allows your followers and privately messaged contacts to see when you are active and for how long.

You now have an “activity status” which tracks how many minutes or hours it has been since you last logged into Instagram, and when you do log back in, it shows when you are currently online. If you are active, you will appear as “active now.”

This information can only be seen by people you follow along with people you message privately. It’s nice that Instagram doesn’t show this to everybody, especially those personalities who have millions of followers, but it still feels a bit intimate.

If you want to turn this off, here’s how to appear offline in Instagram

Open Instagram and go to your profile page

Tap the hamburger menu (the three lines)

    Select Settings

    Tap on Privacy

Scroll down and click on Activity Status

    Lastly, toggle off Activity status

That’s it. After toggling off this setting, you will now appear offline on Instagram. Easy, right? We thought so too. And whenever you want to appear online again, just be sure to enable “Show Activity Status” again just like you did when you toggled it off.

Privately browsing social media is essential for some users, while others don’t mind as much. Regardless of how you feel about the update, it is always nice to know what is new about one of the most popular applications in the world.

Are you keeping this new feature turned on? Let us know down below in the comments or carry the discussion over to our Twitter or Facebook.

That’s all there is to it on the web version on your desktop. The mobile version is different but you basically open FB Messenger, tap the People tab, tap the friend’s name, and then set it to ignore messages by taping the Block option.

At least, it goes something like that. The company is regularly updating the app so things might have changed. Anyway, I uninstalled the mobile version because it is a real battery hog.

Following WhatsApp’s transition to encrypted messages, Facebook rolls out Secret Conversations to protect users’ privacy.

Following WhatsApp Facebook started testing Secret Conversations on Messenger in July 2016. In its offi cial announcement, Facebook declared: “ . we are starting to test the ability to create one-to-one secret conversations in Messenger that will be end-to-end encrypted and which can only be read on one device of the person you’re communicating with. That means the messages are intended just for you and the other person – not anyone else, including us. Within a secret conversation, you can also choose to set a timer to control the length of time each message you send remains visible within the conversation. Our technology uses the Signal Protocol developed by Open Whisper Systems.”

Technically speaking, Secret Conversations provide end-to-end encryption. The Messenger Secret Conversations Technical Whitepaper explains the concept in more detail: “Secret Conversations relies upon the Signal Protocol. Messenger uses Signal Protocol’s implementation as available in the opensource libsignal-protocol-java and libsignal-protocol-c libraries for Android and iOS respectively.”

How do I start a Secret Conversation in Facebook Messenger?

A secret conversation is available only on Messenger for Android and iOS users. That means that you won’t see them on your desktop when you are logged in to your Facebook account. Currently, you can send text, photo and stickers in secret conversations. Videos, payments, GIFs, group chats and voice calls are not yet available in the Secret Mode. To start an end-to-end encrypted conversation, open your Messenger and follow these steps:

To start a secret conversation:How to stay invisible on facebook on android

    Secret Conversation for iOS

    1. From the tab, tap
    2. Tap Secret in the top right
    3. Select who you want to message
    4. If you want, tap in the text box and set a timer to make the messages disappear

M anaging Facebook’s labyrinthine privacy settings is an ongoing challenge, not least because the options available to users are constantly changing. The social network has given people increasingly granular control over where their posts are shown and what pieces of personal data are used to serve ads. But these additional options have also made managing Facebook privacy even more confusing.

Here, we’ve put together a six-step guide to locking down your Facebook account as best as possible.

Step 1: See What Your Public Profile Looks Like

The first thing you’ll want to do is figure out how much of your Facebook info strangers can see. To do so, go to your profile page and click the three dots in the bottom right corner of your cover photo. In the dropdown menu that appears, click “View as.”

This will take you to a version of your Facebook page that appears the way it does to users who are not your friends. Certain information, like your name, current profile picture and cover photo, will always be viewable by strangers. But you can determine who sees other kinds of content. Try scrolling through your profile page in this view to see how many of your posts are publicly viewable to people who aren’t your friends.

Step 2: Decide Who Can See Your Posts

During Step 1 you may discover you’ve inadvertently been sharing posts with everyone on Facebook. Every time you make a post, Facebook gives you the chance to quickly decide which audience to share it with.

To the left of the “Post” button, you’ll see a box that shows who will be able to see a given piece of content. Click the box to choose an audience from a drop-down menu—the most common are “Only Me,” “Friends,” and “Public” (which includes anyone on or off Facebook). You can also share posts with people in your current city or create custom lists. That lets you share your baby photos only with family members, for instance.

Whatever audience you select for a certain post becomes the default going forward. So if you make one “Public” post, Facebook will default to making all your posts “Public” thereafter. If you find you’ve inadvertently been making too many posts Public, Facebook also has an option buried in its settings to retroactively make old posts more private. Click the down arrow in the top right corner of Facebook, then select “Settings” from the drop down menu. On the Settings screen, click “Privacy” in the left-hand rail, then select “Limit Past Posts” in the “Who Can See My Stuff?” section.

Step 3: Get Rid of Intrusive Apps

Over the years you’ve likely given dozens of apps permission to access your Facebook data in order to quickly login or pull up a roster of contacts. Facebook’s been keeping track of all those apps, and now gives you the ability to restrict particular apps’ access to information.

On the Settings screen, select “Apps” in the left-hand rail. You’ll be presented with a grid of all your Facebook-authenticated apps. Click any app and you’ll see an itemized list of every piece of personal information you share with the app, ranging from your birth date to your photos to your location. You can choose to stop sharing any individual data point or remove the app’s connection to your Facebook account outright. You can also turn off an app’s ability to send you Facebook notifications. That could prevent you from continuing to get annoying updates about your aunt’s Candy Crush habit, for instance.

Step 4: Make Yourself Harder to Find

Facebook made all user profiles searchable back in 2013, making it easier for other people to find you on the site. But users still have the ability to stop Google and other search engines from listing their profiles in search results.

On the Settings screen, select “Privacy” in the left-hand rail, then answer “No” to the final question listed, “Do you want search engines outside of Facebook to link to your profile?” On the same screen you can also choose whether you want anyone to be able to send you friend requests or only friends of friends.

Step 5: See Ads That Don’t Leverage Your Personal Data (As Much)

Facebook tracks your browsing habits across the Internet and uses this data to serve you more personalized ads. If that sounds creepy to you, you can tell the company to stop. In the Settings menu, click “Ads” on the left-hand rail. The first section deals with what Facebook calls “online interest-based ads.” If you turn this setting off, you’ll still see the same number of ads, but they won’t be tailored to your Web history off of Facebook. All your actions on Facebook are still fair game for serving targeted ads, though.

Just below this option is a setting to turn off ads paired with your social actions. When this setting is on, Facebook uses your Likes and shares to make ads in other people’s News Feeds more appealing. So if you like the Doritos page, that information might appear alongside a Doritos sponsored post in a friend’s feed without your knowledge. Select “no one” in this section and Facebook won’t use your Likes in this way.

    Step 6: Block Troublesome Users

You can block specific users by selecting the “Blocking” option on the left-hand rail of the Settings menu. You can block users outright, meaning the users can’t see your profile or add you as a friend. You can also block users from doing specific actions, like sending you event invites or app game invites (again, good for that Candy Crush-addicted aunt). Also note that there’s a separate blocking option for Facebook Messenger on this settings page as well.

Users can also add users to a “Restricted List” on this page. Anyone on the list will only be able to see the posts and information you share with the entire public—and they won’t know they’ve been placed on this list. So if you want your co-workers to see your helpful Facebook privacy articles and not your raucous party photos, you might consider placing them on this list (and labeling certain posts “Public” as needed).

Users of WhatsApp messaging apps can use the app “invisibly” to escape boring and uncomfortable people on Android and iPhone (iOS), in addition to the web version. For example, interested parties can use resources such as removing the blue check, which confirms the reading. See some ways to eliminate your traces to avoid being caught online and feel obliged to respond to messages on the spot.

The app prevents you from “appearing offline” to contacts as it still makes you visible when it was the last time you read your messages. However, there are some ways, not so simple to get around these obstacles and become almost “invisible” while browsing the app. So come on?

    How to hide online status?

What these apps actually do is turn off the user’s internet connection as soon as they open WhatsApp, and reconnect it again when they close the app. With this trick, you can see your messages when you are literally offline, without having to lie. But without an internet connection, of course, it is not possible to use the browser, any other social network or apps that depend on Wi-Fi or the mobile network.

Removing the Blue Check – Read confirmation

It is possible to disable the dreaded blue ticks in the same “Privacy” section of the settings. Scroll down the page until you find “Read Receipts” and deselect this option. Keep in mind, however, that you also won’t be able to know when someone has read your messages.

    1. First, access “Settings” by pressing the icon with the three dots in the upper right corner.
    2. Then choose the option “Account” and “Privacy”.
    3. Turn off the key that says “Read receipts” and go!

    WhatsApp | Read confirmations

Turning off confirmation, the two ticks will never change Grey guidance on azul, meaning that the contact received the message, but the sender will not know when (or if) the recipient has read it. The gray color only confirms that it was sent and / or delivered.

Listen to audio in a hidden way

If your device’s operating system is Android, it is also possible to hide the listening confirmation when opening the file outside the messenger, as long as the audio download is automatic. The recordings made by the application’s microphone have the .opus format, which are not recognized by the phone’s default player. Therefore, it is necessary to convert the .opus files to .mp3.

    Opus MP3 Converter

The audios not yet heard are in the “Voice notes” folder of the WhatsApp directory in the device’s memory. As long as the content is heard outside the app, the blue check will not appear for the contact.

    Privacy settings

You can choose who sees yours profile picture.

1.Open the app and go to Settings or Settings.

    2. Then select the Account tab. Then, click Privacy. You will see, among the options, the Profile Photo tab. When opening this tab, the options All, Contact Only or Nobody will appear.

    3. Choose who can view your photo (in the case of Contacts Only, only the numbers saved in your phone’s phonebook will be able to see your photo).

    4. On the iPhone, tap “Settings”, “Account”, “Privacy”.

Also in Privacy, you can configure the notices of Last Seen.

1.Click on the corresponding tab and select one of the options: Everyone, Contacts Only or Nobody. You also have the possibility to adjust the view of the Message, with these same options.

Users have discovered hundreds of messages locked in a hidden inbox within Facebook’s messaging system.

The inbox, accessible on the web or Facebook Messenger apps for smartphones and tablets, is part of Facebook’s filtering system, designed to catch spam and other unwanted messages.

However, users, including myself and others within the Guardian, have discovered their “filtered” inbox full of legitimate messages that never made it to the main inbox or Messenger app.

The simplest way to access the inbox is to navigate to facebook.com/messages/other on the desktop.

The filtered messages inbox can be found in the iPhone Facebook Messenger app, or via Facebook’s mobile site. Photograph: Samuel Gibbs/The Guardian

Within the Messenger app the hidden inbox is buried under four menus. To get to it tap Settings, then People, then Message Requests and tap on the “See filtered requests” link.

The filtered messages include anything attempting to send you messages that you have manually filtered out as unwanted, as well as messages from people who are not connected with you on Facebook. I discovered some tens of messages dating back as far as 2008.

Most of the time you can safely ignore it – Facebook built the system to stop messages you want to see being sent to spam – but it can also trap messages such as those informing you of a friend’s death or a story tip that ends up in filtered and hidden from your Facebook-obsessed eyes. Even for MPs.

When you block a Facebook user, they can’t communicate with you or see what you post, and you won’t see any of their posts or comments. The blocked user cannot invite you to events, send a friend request, view your profile, or send you instant messages through Messenger. It will be as if you were invisible to each other on Facebook. A person does not need to be a Facebook friend to be blocked.

Unblocking someone on Facebook brings you back to see them on Facebook, but if you were previously friends on Facebook, your friend status won’t be automatically restored until one of you sends a friend request and the other doesn’t accept.

If you have blocked someone on Facebook, you will not be notified. They may find themselves blocked if they try to search for your account because they won’t be able to see your name in the search results. Or, they may notice that they don’t see their posts.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

Facebook is a well-known social media application where people can upload their photos, videos and share their status with other Facebook users. It connects billions of its users on a common platform. By signing up on Facebook, you can communicate and stay connected with people across the globe. It even allows its users to create a page in order to connect with people.

On Facebook by default, the Friends section of your profile is public, meaning that everyone can see it. Check here the step-by-step guide to make your friends list private on Facebook.

How to make your friends list private on Facebook:

    • Open the Facebook App on your phone.
    • Then tap on more in the top right of Facebook.
    • Now select Settings & Privacy, then tap on Settings.
    • In the left column, tap on Privacy.
    • Look for the setting Who can see your friends list? And tap on Edit on the far right.
    • Select the audience of people (such as Friends or Only me) you’d like to have access to your friends’ list.

Note: You can only control who can see your friends list on your profile. Your friends also control who can see their friendships on their own profiles. For example, if you set your friends list to ‘Only me’, only you’ll be able to see your full friends list on your profile. But, if your friend has their friends list set to ‘Public’, anyone can see that you’re friends.

Facebook: the social media platform that people love to hate. We’ve come across so many business owners so adamantly against this platform, despite the benefit that it can bring to their business.

The problem is, if you hate Facebook enough to not have your own personal profile, then you can’t manage your Facebook Business Page.

We’ve already discussed the incorrect option that some people take: creating a fake profile to manage the page. What you can do instead is change the settings on your own personal Facebook profile so that you’re more or less ‘hidden’ from those using the platform.

How Do I ‘Hide’ My Personal Facebook Account?

To hide your Facebook profile from the general public, you’ll have to adjust your profile’s settings. Here is how to do so from a desktop computer.

    1. Login to your Facebook profile, and click the arrow in the upper right corner of the Facebook page. Then, click “Settings”.

    2. In the menu on the left, click “Privacy”. This will take you to a page titled, “Privacy Settings and Tools”, which should look something like the image below.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

    3. Under the “Your Activity” section, edit “Who can see your future posts?” and change it to “Only me”. You can then click the “Limit Past Posts” link to change all of your past posts to be viewed by “Friends Only”. Other options:

    • If you’re more interested in hiding your profile from people not in your list of friends, you can select “Friends”, which will only allow your posts to be viewed by those on your friends list.
    • You can select the “Friends except…” options to only allow your posts to be seen by some of your friends.
    • You can also create a “Custom” option to “include and exclude friends and lists”, but keep in mind this will require you to update and maintain your settings if you are adding new people to your Friends list.

    5. Under the “How People Find and Contact You” section, you can do the following:

    • Set “Who can send you friend requests?” to “Friends of friends
    • Set “Who can see your friends list?” to “Only me”, “Friends”, or “Custom
    • Make sure “Who can look you up using the email address you provided?” is set to “Friends
    • Make sure “Who can look you up using the phone number you provided?” is set to “Friends
    • Edit “Do you want search engines outside of Facebook to link to your profile?” and uncheck the box that allows this.

    6. In the menu on the left hand side, go to “Timeline and Tagging”. This will take you to a page that should look similar to the following:

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

    7. Under the “Timeline” Section:

    • Set “Who can post on your timeline?” to “Only me
    • Set “Who can see what others post on your timeline?” to “Only me
    • Edit “Allow post sharing to stories?” and set it to “Disabled” to turn this off

    8. Under the “Tagging” Section:

Edit “Who can see posts you’re tagged in on your timeline?” and change it to “Only me

Change “When you’re tagged in a post, who do you want to add to the audience of the post if they can’t already see it?” to “Only me

Change “Who sees tag suggestions when photos that look like you are uploaded?” to “No one

    9. Under the “Review” Section, edit “Review posts you’re tagged in before the post appears on your timeline?” and select “Enabled” to make it so that you have to approve friends tagging you. When they do tag you, you can choose to not accept the tag so that you won’t be tagged in that particular post.

    10. In the menu on the left, go to “Location” and make sure that your location history is off.

Your Facebook Profile Is Now (Mostly) Hidden!

This is about as close as you can get to “erasing” your Facebook Profile apart from deactivating it all together. Since deactivating your profile wouldn’t allow you to manage your Facebook Business Page, this is the best solution if you want to be the one in charge of managing your Business Page.

Until recently, if you wanted to temporarily remove a Facebook post from your pages and bring it back later, you could do that very easily. It was very easy to hide and unhide posts on Facebook.

But unfortunately, Facebook has decided to get rid of this option.

Facebook has removed the coveted “Hide from timeline” feature as a part of their commitment to increase transparency for Pages.

As per Facebook, “As part of our commitment to increasing transparency for Pages, we will be removing the “Hide From Timeline” option for posts on a page’s timelines. This means that organic posts will always appear on a page’s timeline.”

But there is a still way you can hide or take off a post from your Facebook timeline without permanently deleting it.

Before we get into the process of hiding a Facebook post, here are some quick reasons why hiding a post is almost always better than outright deleting it.

Why Should You Hide A Facebook Post?

Facebook gives you tons of visibility controls that allow you to choose what updates you want to share with your friends and with the general public. You can set different privacy levels such as friends, friends of friends, or the general public. And that’s not it; you can even hide a post from a particular friend or friend.

    You’re Fixing/Curating Your Timeline

The most common reason why you’d want to get rid of an older post is that you’re doing a cleanup of your Facebook timeline.

There can be certain outdated, obsolete, or embarrassing posts that you no longer wish to be visible to people.

Hiding such posts take them out of the public eye & if at some point you’d like to bring them back, you can easily do so as well.

    It’s Not Your Content

If you were tagged in a Facebook post by someone or someone else posted on your timeline, you wouldn’t have the option to outright delete it.

In such cases, hiding those Facebook posts is the only way to go.

Now that we’ve covered a couple of reasons why you should hide a Facebook post, here are the steps to do it.

How To Hide A Facebook Post On Desktop?

Here are the steps to hide a Facebook post on desktop:

    1. Go to Facebook & open your profile/page
    2. After opening your profile/page, scroll through your timeline until you find a post that you want to hide
    3. Click on the three dots menu in the upper right corner of the post
    4. Click on Archive & you’ll get a popup message saying, “Moving post to your archive, Go to Archive.”

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

    1. You’ll now get a popup message saying, “Moving post to your archive, Go to Archive.” If you click on Go to Archive, you’ll be redirected to the Archived posts menu

You can also choose to move an archived post to trash, Items moved to trash are deleted after 30 days.

If the content does not belong to you, i.e., you were tagged on it, or it was posted by someone else on your timeline, you can hide it from your profile by following the same steps and selecting the “Hide from Profile” option.

Choosing the type of reCAPTCHA There are four types of reCAPTCHA to choose from when creating a new site.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

    reCAPTCHA v3

reCAPTCHA v3 allows you to verify if an interaction is legitimate without any user interaction. It is a pure JavaScript API returning a score, giving you the ability to take action in the context of your site: for instance requiring additional factors of authentication, sending a post to moderation, or throttling bots that may be scraping content.

    reCAPTCHA v2 (“I’m not a robot” Checkbox)

The “I’m not a robot” Checkbox requires the user to click a checkbox indicating the user is not a robot. This will either pass the user immediately (with No CAPTCHA) or challenge them to validate whether or not they are human. This is the simplest option to integrate with and only requires two lines of HTML to render the checkbox.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

    reCAPTCHA v2 (Invisible reCAPTCHA badge)

The invisible reCAPTCHA badge does not require the user to click on a checkbox, instead it is invoked directly when the user clicks on an existing button on your site or can be invoked via a JavaScript API call. The integration requires a JavaScript callback when reCAPTCHA verification is complete. By default only the most suspicious traffic will be prompted to solve a captcha. To alter this behavior edit your site security preference under advanced settings.

    reCAPTCHA v2 (Android)

The reCAPTCHA Android library is part of the Google Play services SafetyNet APIs. This library provides native Android APIs that you can integrate directly into an app. You should set up Google Play services in your app and connect to the GoogleApiClient before invoking the reCAPTCHA API. This will either pass the user through immediately (without a CAPTCHA prompt) or challenge them to validate whether they are human.

    reCAPTCHA v1 – Shut down

reCAPTCHA v1 has been shut down since March 2018. Please use an option above.

Here’s how you can easily hide and unhide chats inside of WhatsApp on Android and iOS.

WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging platform globally. To keep ahead of the curve, the social media platform keeps on adding new features with updates. Even though it keeps on doing so, there are still a number of features that are missing like the ability to hide chats. Today we will detail a method, which you can use to hide a chat from the home screen of the app.

How to hide and unhide chats in WhatsApp on Android

    * Open up WhatsApp and look for the chat that you want to hide.

    * After you have found the chat, long press it to select it.

    * After the chat has been selected, click on the archive button, which is located on the top right corner to hide the chat.

    Best of Express Premium

    * The hidden chat will be located below all of the chats on your smartphone inside of the archived chats.

    * Now to unhide the chats, you need to open WhatsApp, scroll to the bottom of all the chats and open the archived tab.

    * Inside of the archived tab, you will get to see all the chats that you have archived.

    * Select the chat you want to unhide by long pressing it and then click on the unarchive chat button located on the top right corner.

How to hide and unhide chats in WhatsApp on iOS

    * Open WhatsApp and find the chat which you want to hide.

    * Now swipe on the chat from right to left, which will reveal a few options.

    * Select the archive chat option, which will then remove the chat from the home screen.

    * To unarchive the chat, go into the archive chats list, by pulling down on the chat screen and going into the archived chats menu.

    * Now inside of the archived chats menu, swipe from right to left on the chat you want to unarchive and select the unarchive chat button.

Take note that both on Android and iOS, once you receive a message on an archived chat, the chat will get unarchived automatically and will be visible in the chat list.

Component to control the app’s status bar. The status bar is the zone, typically at the top of the screen, that displays the current time, Wi-Fi and cellular network information, battery level and/or other status icons.

    Usage with Navigator

It is possible to have multiple StatusBar components mounted at the same time. The props will be merged in the order the StatusBar components were mounted.

    Imperative API

For cases where using a component is not ideal, there is also an imperative API exposed as static functions on the component. It is however not recommended to use the static API and the component for the same prop because any value set by the static API will get overridden by the one set by the component in the next render.

    Constants

    currentHeight

The height of the status bar, which includes the notch height, if present.

    Props

    animated

If the transition between status bar property changes should be animated. Supported for backgroundColor , barStyle and hidden properties.

    Type Required Default
    boolean No false

    Type Required Default
    StatusBarStyle No ‘default’

    hidden

If the status bar is hidden.

    Type Required Default
    boolean No false

    networkActivityIndicatorVisible

If the network activity indicator should be visible.

    Type Default
    boolean false

    showHideTransition

The transition effect when showing and hiding the status bar using the hidden prop.

    Type Default
    StatusBarAnimation ‘fade’

    translucent

If the status bar is translucent. When translucent is set to true , the app will draw under the status bar. This is useful when using a semi transparent status bar color.

    Type Default
    boolean false

    Methods

    popStackEntry()

Get and remove the last StatusBar entry from the stack.

    Parameters:

    pushStackEntry()

Push a StatusBar entry onto the stack. The return value should be passed to popStackEntry when complete.

To be honest, this is kind of scary.

If you’re a Facebook user, you know who your friends on the social media platform are, but did you know that strangers could be following your account without you even realizing it?

The “following” feature allows any user with a Facebook account to subscribe to your account so that your public updates show up in their newsfeed, even if you haven’t accepted them as a friend. This includes public photos and posts that you upload yourself as well as any comments that you leave on someone else’s public post. The scary part is that, if you have the feature enabled, anyone on the social media platform can follow you unless you’ve blocked them. People who send friend requests to you will automatically start following you too, even if you ignore or delete their initial invite to be friends. Yikes!

To find out exact who is following you, click on “Friends” below your cover photo and then click “Followers.” If you don’t see this option come up that means you don’t have any followers. If you do, they will show up in a list like this:

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

If you do have followers, the only way you can stop them from subscribing to you is by individually blocking them, but it’s important to remember that they can only see public posts and comments that you’ve posted. You can see what your timeline looks like to these followers by going to “ Settings” – “Public Post” and clicking the link at the bottom of the page.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

To block them, go directly to their profile and click on the “…” next to “Message” under their cover photo.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

If you want to stop people from being able to follow you all together, you can easily turn the feature off by going to ” Settings” – “Public Post” – “Who Can Follow Me” and changing from “Public” to “Friends.” You can also change the settings of who can comment on your posts and photos and who you get notifications from on that same screen.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

For future status updates, you can make sure only your friends are seeing the things you post by changing the “Who should see this?” option to “Friends” directly in the draft of the post.

Facebook’s relatively recent entry into the digital dating market uses the platform’s extensive reach to match you with potential partners from your local area. Facebook Dating is available from within the Facebook mobile app and accessible from the main menu or via the Dating tab.

Of course, if you are happily married, in a monogamous relationship, or simply not interested in hooking up with local hotties, you may not want the Dating icon shortcut tab taking up real estate on your smartphone’s screen.

In that case, here’s how to delete the Dating shortcut from your daily FB view.

Removing the dating icon shortcut tab from Facebook

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

Whether or not you have activated Facebook Dating and set up an account, removing the Facebook Dating icon tab from your phone’s home screen is very simple. Just tap on the “Dating” tab in the shortcuts menu along the bottom of your screen and then tap “Not Now.”

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

This will generate the option to “Remove” or “Keep” the dating icon. Click on “Remove” to get rid of it.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

Removing the Facebook Dating icon shortcut will delete it from your Facebook screen. If you want to access Dating in the future, you can do so from the main Facebook menu that you access by tapping on the three lines at the bottom right of your screen.

Deleting the Dating shortcut and your Facebook Dating profile

Deleting the shortcut tab does not delete the Facebook Dating profile that you’ve set up from within the app. If you want to remove the Facebook Dating icon shortcut tab because you no longer want to use the service, you also need to deactivate or delete your Facebook Dating profile, otherwise you will still be visible to other users of the service.

Here’s how to do it: Open your Facebook app on your iOS or Android device. Tap the three-lines menu icon at the bottom right of your screen. This will bring up Facebook’s main menu.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

From the main menu, tap on “Dating.” This will bring up your Facebook Dating settings.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

From here you can choose to “Take a Break” from Facebook Dating. This means your Facebook Dating profile will not be deleted, and any matches and chats will be saved, but you will no longer be visible on the platform. You can turn this option off and go back to being visible at any time.

If you want to delete your profile completely, select the “Delete profile” option and then go through the next two screens, which ask “Are you sure?” and give you the choice to instead take a break. If you do decide to delete, Facebook will ask, “Tell us why?” Once you’ve answered those final questions, your Facebook Dating profile will be completely deleted and no longer visible.

I have a big gripe with the Facebook Messenger app ever since Facebook decided to launch a major UI change without letting me know in the change log first. And now, I’m stuck with an annoyance right smack in the middle of my conversation list when I open the app.

Fortunately, there is a way to hide these annoying ‘Favorites’ and ‘Active Now’ sections, even if temporarily, and we’ll show you how in this tutorial.

    An annoyance that seems forced…

Ever since a couple of updates ago, the Facebook Messenger app has been showing sections for your Favorite contacts and those that are Active Now right in the middle of the conversation list. It makes it annoying and more cumbersome to use the Messenger app as a whole, because you have to scroll down to see the rest of your conversation history.

And of course, do you think Facebook mentioned this in one of their change logs? No! Of course not! Facebook loves shoving unwanted updates and features down your throat, and that’s probably precisely the reason they never mention these changes in the change log despite promising to “highlight new features as they become available.”

So, how do you hide those annoying sections? Well, I can tell you it won’t be permanent. It’ll last a few days, maybe up to a week, before you have to do it again, but it certainly is possible to hide them.

    Hiding the Favorites section

To hide the Favorites section from the Facebook Messenger app’s conversation list view, follow these steps:

    1) Launch the Facebook Messenger app on your iPhone, and make sure you’re in the Home tab.

    2) Tap and hold on any person’s profile image inside of the section, then release, and you’ll see an Action Menu appear. Tap on the Hide All button.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

    3) In the next pop-up you see, Facebook even warns you that the change will only be temporary, so just tap on the Hide button.

Now the Favorites section will be hidden from the Facebook Messenger app, but it will return in a few days. You might just have to keep going this over and over. I know… it’s stupid.

    Hiding the Active Now section

Hiding the Active Now section is a little different in execution, but still possible. Here are the steps:

    1) Launch the Facebook Messenger app on your iOS device and make sure you’re in the Home tab.

    2) Swipe to the left on any person in the Active Now section until a gray Hide All button appears.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

    3) Tap on the Hide button that appears in the pop-up prompt that tells you the change will be temporary.

And now you’re good… at least for a few days until it returns. Just like the Favorites section, you can count on having to do this again in the future. Nevertheless, at least you can see your whole conversation list without interruptions now.

    Wrapping up

I don’t know if it’s just me or what, but I really hate this new feature Facebook implemented in a recent Messenger update, and I wish there was a permanent way to disable these sections from appearing in the Facebook Messenger app.

If you had the same gripe, I hope you found this short guide helpful. Pay no attention to all the blurs I had to make in the screenshots, I just like to respect the privacy of my Facebook friends.

But, things flip to the annoying side when we get suggestions of totally random people on that list, with whom we don’t even have any mutual friends or any other connection of that sort.

To make things even worse, when you start receiving notifications about this section on your App, Email, and even SMS. So, today we’ll be sharing two ways to turn off the “People You May Know” on Facebook permanently.

We’ll show you the easiest and the hardest way

The problem with Facebook is that your group of “friends” really consists of just about everyone you know including your family, relatives, friends, work colleagues, professional contacts, etc., etc. Yes, you can create lists and group people into them, but it’s a hard to find feature that no one really ever uses it. However, I’ll still mention how to use lists in Facebook in case you really want to organize your friend list.

So what’s the best way to hide your Facebook status from one person or a specific set of friends? The best way in my opinion is to use the privacy controls while you are actually creating the status update. In this article, I’ll show you how to control the privacy of a single status update and all future status updates too.

    Single Status Update

Since you’ll probably only be restricting your status updates some of the time, the simplest solution is to click on the little privacy control button at the bottom right of the status update window.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

The privacy control will be set to whatever is your default option for who can see your Facebook status updates. In my case, my default setting is only Friends. If you want to change this for a particular post, go ahead and click on the down arrow.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

At the top, you’ll get three main choices: Public, Friends and Only Me. Below that you get more options like Friends except Acquaintances and then Custom. Below those options, Facebook will give you some custom lists that it creates on its own.

In my case, it gives me options for friends who live in certain areas, my family, close friends, friends who’ve gone to the same school as me, etc. If you already have a list and you want only those people to see your status, just select the list and you’re good to go.

In order to exclude someone or an entire list, you have to click on Custom. This will bring up the Custom Privacy popup window.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

Here you can edit exactly who you want to share or not share the status update with. In my example above, everyone will see my post except the people in the Family list. You can type in individual names or pick from your lists. Click Save Changes and you’re good to go.

So is there any way for someone to find out that you hid a post from them on Facebook? Well, Facebook does not let the person know, unless you happen to tag them! So make sure you don’t tag a person you are trying to hide your status from.

In addition, even if the person you tagged is friends with a person you hide the post from, the latter will not be able to see it on the former’s wall or in their own news feed. From a technical standpoint on Facebook, the excluded people will have no way to know that you posted the status update. Obviously, if someone mentions it outside of Facebook, you might be in trouble!

    Future Status Updates

Once you change the setting inline while posting a status update, Facebook assumes you’ll want to continue doing this. If you go to post another status update, you’ll see it still says Custom instead of whatever it was earlier. You can also check this setting under the privacy settings in Facebook. Go ahead and click on the little lock icon at the top right.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

Then click on Who can see my stuff? to expand those options. Under who can see my future posts?, go ahead and click on the box and choose Custom. In my case, it was already set to Custom since I had just posted a status update with custom privacy settings.

    Create Facebook Lists

The pre-created lists created by Facebook are useful, but sometimes you need to create a list that is for a specific set of people not already in a list. To do this, you have to go to your main News Feed and then hover your mouse over Friends in the left sidebar until you see More.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

Now you’ll see all of your lists. At the top, you can click on Create a List.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

Give you list a name and start typing names to create the list. Click the Create button and it’s as simple as that!

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

Now you can use this list in various settings across Facebook that allow lists. Hopefully, this helps you control the privacy of your Facebook status updates. Make sure to read my other posts on about Facebook like how to hide your online Facebook status, update Facebook status via text message, and how to hide from one Facebook friend from another. IF you’ve had Facebook for a while, you’ve probably got loads of messages you’ve never seen.

That’s because Facebook has a hard-to-find Messenger inbox that you’ve likely missed.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

The messages are from people who you’re not friends with on Facebook, and are logged as “message requests”.

For some reason, Mark Zuckerberg’s social media behemoth doesn’t send you a notification when you get one – and they don’t appear in your default inbox.

Instead, they crop up in a special “message requests” folder.

To find it, first open up the Messenger app on your smartphone.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

From here, select “people” at the bottom of the screen.

Towards the top of this section you’ll see a symbol that’s a little speech bubble with three dots in it.

That’s your message requests folder – tap on it to see your unread messages.

If you don’t know the person who’s got in contact, Facebook will show you a bit of information about them to get you up to speed.

They won’t know if you’ve seen the message until you reply, so no need to worry about looking rude if you choose not to respond.

Be careful though – once you ping them a message it’ll connect your accounts so you can message one another as if you were Facebook friends.

How to send or request money through Facebook Messenger

Here’s what you need to know.

It’s also possible to send and request money through Messenger.

First set up your payment card – go to your Messenger profile, then choose Payments and add your card.

Then open a chat with a friend and tap the More button and choose Payments.

It’s then easy to send money or ask for a payment from any of your pals.

Of course, they’ll need to register a payment method too for the transaction to complete.

That’s not the only secret Facebook Messenger feature.

There are certain messages you can send that unlock hidden games.

How to stay invisible on facebook on android

Send a basketball emoji then tap it to unlock a game.

You can also type “@FacebookChess” to launch a chess challenge.

Alternatively, tap the More button in the toolbar, and then click the controller icon.

That will generate a list of games that you can play with the friend you’re chatting to.

    2. Click the arrow in the top-right corner.
    3. Click Settings & Privacy.
